Most men think they want sex, but really they want meaningful connection. This is why so many men can't stop looking at pornography and hate themselves for it - it is a black hole of false intimacy.

Keller taught me that understanding substitutionary atonement is crucial for personal security: “The Christian gospel is that I am so flawed that Jesus had to die for me, yet I am so loved and valued that Jesus was glad to
"Why are you rewarding a wife's bad behavior with a date?"
This was the most common pushback to my story below.
"So, she gets to just act like a child and have no consequences? This effeminate advice is what's wrong with the church today."
These sentiments reveal a few things:

Preaching doesn't take guts; pastoring does.
Yesterday I was a guest preacher at a church about two hours from my house. They'd asked me to teach on gender: masculine, feminine, trans.
A sweet lady came up to me after the service and told me, "It took guts to say what you did

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.

In my experience, 80% of the time a man is placed under church discipline this is how he responds.
He will position himself as a victim, blame God-given accountability structures, and high-handedly take the Lord's name in vain.
Courageous church leaders must sometimes hand

Do not run from the "weird" or "offensive" parts of the Bible, even in evangelism.
Today in the sauna, I had a conversation with a young man who was discussing the emptiness of hookup culture and his perceived inability not have it without being ruled by it. "Sex is cheap and I
I've changed my go-to definition for sexual immorality (aka "pornea" in Greek).
I used to define it as: "any sexual activity that isn't between one woman and one man in marriage."
Now I define it as: "any sexual activity that isn't consensual and mutually edifying between one

How are Christian men supposed to interact with the women? "Older women as mothers, younger women as sisters" (1 Timothy 5:2).

Two needed spiritual practices for 2024: digital fasts and willful ignorance.

Here are six easy ingredients you need to include in your messaging to your kids about sex:
1. Sex is good. God made it. He could have made us procreate via mitosis. He could have not made orgasms. He designed it on purpose.
2. Sex is designed to happen in the context of a
“Q) I'm a pastor / youth pastor / youth leader / parent. How do I talk to my kids about sex in a way that doesn't induce shame? Is there any way for me to teach them to be abstinent until marriage without falling into the pitfalls of purity culture?

Six questions you have to answer with clarity if you want to preach like Jesus:

Six Reasons To Believe Jesus Truly Rose from the Dead
Happy Holy Week! Many mistakenly view the resurrection of Jesus as a metaphor for "second chances" or merely a Myth meant to inspire hope. Others think that the Resurrection of Jesus is something you have to believe on purely
Prop 139 (Arizona Right to Abortion Initiative) on the ballot this November in Arizona is so sloppy and barbaric that even staunchly pro-choice voters should feel great about voting "No." 🧵
Three key questions to ask your LDS [Mormon] friends, family, and neighbors.
Yesterday in the sauna, I spent some time talking with a good friend of mine who is an LDS Bishop. He regularly wants to emphasize how we both worship Jesus, how we have a lot in common, and how we're
"What, do you want your kids to be sheltered?"
Uh, yes, I do, actually. To be unsheltered is to be homeless, unprotected, and left to fend for oneself. Shelter is in the foundation of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
Age-appropriate naiveté ought to be incubated, not sabotaged.
I am preaching Will’s funeral today at 3pm. Please especially pray for his big sister, Mom, and Dad.

Three Reasons I don't Believe In "the Rapture"
1. The LXX teaches that Noah was left behind [κατελείφθη Νωε, Genesis 6:8], thus, "it will be like the days of Noah" in Olivet Discourse (Mat 24) is about those not in Christ being whisked away into judgement.
2. Bible
The bodily resurrection of Jesus proves the Christian belief that our bodies are good and they tell us the truth about who we are.
Those that deny the resurrection of Jesus will inevitably degrade the body.
In Western secularism bodies are merely the containers of the

Christians must rediscover and promote chivalry.
Chivalry is "using strength to honor" and requires three core confessions found in 1 Peter 3:7:

Almost every bit of me wants to simply and honestly defend Josh here - this is obviously a joke and is not advice. Lighten up.

Frame, in context, is contrasting the transcendence (author) and immanence (actor) of God.

I love this. Size dynamics must be considered, but can't be used as excuses to do worse than we could with hard work.
Conversely, mega-churches cannot hide behind their size to excuse lack of church discipline, lack of depth in preaching, or shallow discipleship.
@PastorMark
This is makes sense because "bad company corrupts good character" and having two sets of eyes judge someone's character is simply better than one.
Ten Commandments Applied to Parenting:
1. do not worship your children or their extracurricular activities
2. do not anchor your hope for your kids in material things
3. do not overspiritualize or fully baptize your instincts, preferences, or behaviors related to discipline
When Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled.

False teachers like this posture themselves as “defenders of the oppressed” when in reality they are Satan’s agents of oppression.
Many, many people genuinely struggle with their sexuality and teachers like this give out licenses to sin while taking on the Lord’s name in vain.

this is so true - almost all counseling I do involves guiding people into grief.
People want to change - but all change is loss and all loss requires grief.

The belief in the *possibility* of the non-souled person isn't new; during the early colonial era, some European Christians questioned whether Indigenous peoples, Africans, and other non-European groups had souls.
Those who want to theologically justify genocide aren't creative.
Calvin prof Kristin Du Mez says in the ab**tion debate, we have an "impoverished theological discourse" on "ensoulment," or when the soul enters the body.
In other words, let's figure out how much time we have to k*ll a fetus before we're morally culpable for k*lling a soul.
