Gardening update: big fennel, heirloom peppers, and this massive zucchini blossom (my hand for scale) This 🌻 is grown from a pack of seeds from this dude who grows literal fields of 🌻. It's been growing since April. Longest 🌻 of my life. Soon, though!

I made strawberry rhubarb jam in the bread machine. I've never made jam before. It tastes like strawberry rhubarb pie, which is painfully obvious now. Also used our rhubarb! Also, also, it's damn tasty.

Lots of marzanos ripening! These two 🌻 are a different type than the others. The open one is short, but the other is about my height (I'm 6' 4"). It's taken just about all year to get here. It should bloom in a couple days!

I know everyone except me knew this, but Aliens is so good! One of the best movies I've ever seen, horror or otherwise. Everything about it...the story, characters, pacing, set design, aliens... just so good! I did squeeze a pillow the whole movie, though.

This is probably the last full bloom of the season. I harvested seeds from the larger flower, so we'll have more of these fluffy guys next year. Oddly enough, the seeds are purple. Everything is slowly dying. 😮‍💨

Last night, I baked Mansoor's @Mansoorlee brownies! I used dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet. Mine aren't as pretty as his, but man are they delicious. Recipe on his Instagram. Blending the sugars and browning the butter makes a difference!

I baked Rhubarb bars. Cake base, rhubarb compote, and an oatmeal crumble. It's good but needs more rhubarb. A scoop of vanilla ice cream would help, too. Our rhubarb is green (they can be green and be ripe!), and man is that color off-putting. 😅

Pro-tip: While mixing protein powder into kefir for more protein might seem like a good idea, it will absolutely turn into plaster, and no, adding milk to loosen it up doesn't make it less gross. You still have to drink it. Follow for more bad ideas!
