(Game Demo Revamp in August / September 2024)
Please don't play the Finals 🙏
By doing so it's telling companies that you're fine with products that use AI voices, and it's one of the first major games to do so
This sets the bench for future games
If you care about the future of gaming and voice actors, please don't do it
Hey Voice Actors
It's open. Here's the submission form for my high quality Voice Actor roster!
Please read the instructions carefully. This will be open until August 2023.
If you are rejected this time around, please do try again next time.
Good luck!
I'm thinking of opening a high quality Voice Actor roster 👀
I encourage VAs of all career stages to apply, because I know some of you out there put yourselves down before you've even given it a go!
If you don't get accepted this time, it doesn't mean not ever, just not now 😄
@Cerillaverde1
There are always voice actors who will do unpaid work, especially those who are trying to build up some credits.
Though I'm not quite sure if your tweet is for or against AI because I can't tell if its sarcasm by text 🤔
Just got the all clear! 👌
Thrilled to announce that I'll be a Voice Actor in the incredible project, Fallout: London 😄✨
Lots of big names are involved, and it'll be an honour to appear in a game alongside them 🥳
@MR3Dev
If you just so much as look on LinkedIn or Twitter, you'll see that newer voice actors will line right up for the chance of breaking into a video game
Of course the more established voice actors will usually expect fair compensation, but there's no harm in asking
📢VA CASTING CALL📢

I've completely refreshed my Voice Actor roster!

Please read through carefully, and I wish you all the best 😄

🎙️VO tip of the day:
Stop trying to sound like everyone else ❤️
It's your voice, be yourself. You might dislike your natural voice, but I can guarantee, someone is looking for that exact voice print. Stop hiding, and use it! 😄
I tried out casting call club for a bit, but it hardly seems worth it.
From what I've seen (not experienced personally):
-Projects seem to fall through
-Many directors don't have a clue what they're doing
-Too many unpaid/very low paying roles
Has it been worth it for you?
So far, an overwhelming number of straight, cis, non-disabled, white men have applied to the roster.
I implore LGBT+, BIPOC and disabled voice actors to please give the roster a go, don't be so critical of yourself by saying no for me. ❤️
A lot of newer VAs assume that Agencies are the be all and end all of Voice Acting
I have 3 agents, none have ever sent me anything yet, and it's a similar story for most
Most of my work comes from rosters, recommendations, auditioning, and being scouted
You can do this!
Oh, I completely forgot to announce something awesome! 😱
I have my first ever paid performance capture job on Tuesday 😄
It's completely remote too! It's for a game, and I'll be capturing my performance using iPhone face tracking software 💪
✨CRITICAL ROLE ANNOUNCEMENT✨
That's right, you heard me! I'm the voice of

ad!
An absolute honour to be part of, and thank you for having me 😄
🧵Dear
#SagAftraMembers
:
Today we close out one of the most important chapters in recent entertainment industry history. The 2023 TV/Theatrical Contracts have officially been ratified by SAG-AFTRA members by a vote of 78.33% to 21.67% with a turnout of 38.15%. (1/8)
✨Representation Announcement✨
I'm delighted to announce that I'm represented by Innovision Talent & Casting in California!
This is my first time applying for representation of any kind in the 9 years since I started my VA journey (5 years full-time in July)
✨Representation Announcement✨
I'm absolutely THRILLED to announce that I've been accepted with
@BigmouthVoices
in NZ!
I'm very excited for what the future brings 😊
🚨It's coming on the 8th August🚨
😌Finally, a sound isolated booth
🎙️My current setup is fantastic, but it's only sound treated, not sound isolated. I'm just fortunate to live in a very quiet area with great house sound insulation 😄
There is no ethical way to use AI. It's been built up on theft, and it still sounds awful and creepy 🤖
I'd take an absolute newbie voice actor performance with the worst audio quality, over gen AI crap any day, at the least the VA has heart and soul in the performance ❤️
🎙VO tip of the day
It's absolutely fine if you can't afford classes/workshops ❤️
I couldn't when I started either! There's a wealth of fantastic info online, just be sure to verify everything, and vet your sources. Below are a few great resources for self-teaching! 😄
Thinking of you bb 😘
This is the make/model of booth that's arriving late July / early August 😆

A DOOR! 🚪
Hey Voice Actors!
Please don't send cold emails to other voice actors, asking them to recommend you for projects 😅
It's very rude, and why should we? We don't know you, why should we risk it?
It's been happening a lot lately, so please take care with how this comes across 🙏
The list of struck Video Games companies are here!
I advise caution, as AAA Video Games VA auditions are extremely secretive and vague
Most of the time you don't know who you're auditioning to work with, as you only usually find out the bare minimum after signing an NDA 😬
Checklist of things you did as a child that probably lead to you becoming an Actor:
- Acted out scenes on your own while playing outside
- Practiced voices in the shower
- Recorded your own voice and listened back to it a lot
- Talked aloud when alone
How did you score?
What people think being a full-time VA is like:
Rocking on up to the booth/studio, acting for a few hours, going home and waiting for the next job.
__
What it actually mostly is:
Contracts, emails and tax forms/finances, and if you're lucky, voice acting. 😅
🎙️VO tip of the day
Networking is a huge part of being a Voice Actor ❤️
My career didn't really kick off properly until I started networking regularly. Not to say you can't do it without, but it'll make your life so much easier, plus it's great to make friends along the way 😄
I've been thinking about some really awful advice a fellow VA gave to someone last year:
🥺New VA: How do I reduce mouth clicks and noises?
😒Bad advice: Just don't make them. It's unprofessional.
Yes, it's not great, but they do happen, and she was just being mean/unhelpful
🎙️VO Tip of the Day
You never know who is quietly watching your progress as a VA ❤️
I've had a few people cast me in things and say they've been following my career for a while. Be patient when you feel a lull, someone definitely has you in mind 😄
If you're a remote VA, you're likely not only just doing the voice acting.
You're probably also your:
- Audio Engineer
- Graphic Designer
- Social Media Manager
- Accountant
- Marketing
I spend more time doing all of these than I do voice acting. But it's all part of the job!
🧵I did a casting call a few months ago, we received hundreds of auditions for this one character.
Only 90 of these were viable, based on audio quality alone! 😅
I wasn't looking for pro only, decent was the minimum. But 100s of submissions had completely unusable audio
1/2
If you're new to voice acting, PLEASE read up on the going rates for VO jobs, and please never try to undercut your fellow VAs!
Offering slightly lower for a smaller indie job is okay, but it sets the bar for all of us ❤️
#VoiceActing
#VoiceActor
One thing I've noticed with the auditions, is that you can definitely hear who has had a lot of training / experience, and who just bought a fancy VA setup without any of that.
If you feel your reads sound flat, then I highly suggest seeking VA training!
Where? 1/2
🎙️VO tip of the day
Don't over edit your auditions ❤️
You're looking at submitting as close to raw as you can. With dead spaces removed, normalized to -3dB, and flubbed lines removed too. Minor EQ and very light noise removal is usually okay... if you know what you're doing! 😄
🎙VO tip of the day
Use the official VO rates guides, even if you're new ❤️
These guides are here to protect the value of VA overall, and if you undersell, it becomes the new normal price. Protect the future VO careers by following these! Guides in comments 👇 😄
✨Role Announcement✨
I finally got the courage to put
#LordOfTheRings
in my twitter bio.
Even though it was a year ago, it was an officially licensed commercial as Galadriel!
I felt like too much of an impostor to post about it properly, or make a big deal out of it. 😅
I heartily disagree with this statement.
You take away the creative control of what and how you're saying it, and as much as you try and put in restrictions, it will always be abused.
Generative AI voices and art should be outlawed, not welcomed. There is always a better way.
🎙VO tip of the day
Make genuine connections with no ulterior motive ❤️
People can sniff out someone who wants something a mile away. Make friends in the industry for the sake of community and shared resources instead, and if something comes of it, it's a bonus, not the goal 😄
🎙️VO tip of the day:
Networking plays a huge part ❤️
It sounds scary (cold emailing aside). But most of it is through making genuine organic connections with other people. Don't go in with an ulterior motive, just chat, get to know each other as people, and just be yourself 😄
Damn there are some truly vile people in the VA community. 😬
Ah well, at least most of you lot are lovely! ❤️
Block, ignore, move on with your life, and hope you never have to work with any of them 👍
🎙️VO tip of the day
Learn the basics of audio editing ❤️
As a remote VA, you're going to have to know how to edit your own audio (basic cleanup and exporting with specific settings). Know the difference between .wav, .mp3, 16bit and 24bit, and acceptable -dB ranges 😄
I've finally been sent my first AAA game audition, where the final version will be recorded in London, I don't think I'll get it, but it's worth a shot!
🤩
🎙️VO tip of the day:
Don't undercut your fellow voice actors ❤️
You might think you'd be giving yourself a better chance, but it cheapens VO in the long run, and you're screwing yourself over in the future. There will always be clients who pay fairly 😄
I just got hit with the:
We liked your audition so much, that we just want to pay you for it 😱
Fun fact: I hated that audition and thought my acting was awful, and sent it off with a "That'll do" attitude 😅
Lesson: Tell your brain to shut up
🧠👈
Unless they're paying you extra, you shouldn't be offering anything beyond basic cleanup 😄
Basic cleanup:
- Removing dead space
- Removing flubbed lines
- Light noise removal
- Normalize to -3dB
- A quick run of declicker
(Only do these if you actually know what you're doing)
Dear VAs,
Stop volunteering to do audio engineering services for free when you're already being paid for acting & you think you're helping. You may not see the consequences of your actions that you've decimated many audio small businesses as now people aren't budgeting for audio
Most, and quite likely, all of the full-time VAs I know don't 'just' do voice acting!
Make sure you have a backup. For example, some do script writing and casting...
I do coaching and dialogue audio tech work for video games 😄
What do you do as a bonus to VA? 🤔
Can companies please stop trying to shove AI down our throats at every opportunity? 😩
"Write with AI"
"Tell your story with AI"
"AI Voices"
I know what I want to say, hence why I opened the box to write it. I'll tell my own bloody stories and use my own bloody voice thanks 😤
@MR3Dev
There's a difference between TTS (pre-recorded words by voice actors), and generative AI, please do research this properly. It's the fact it's generative AI, that's causing mass displacement and job loss in the creative fields.
Being able to do impressions doesn't mean the same as being able to voice act.
But out of curiosity, can anyone do any great impressions?
Off the top of my head, I can do Galadriel and Mickey Mouse. 🤣
Bonus points for anything that isn't Peter Griffin or Rick and Morty 👌
I remember about a year or two ago, I was directly sent my first ever AAA game audition 😊
This was for something in LA, but recording remotely.
I've since received many AAA game auditions since then, but it was a first!
A remote VA career, is absolutely possible! ❤️
🎙VO tip of the day
Expensive classes don't always mean they're better ❤️
There are many excellent, vetted teachers, who don't break the bank. Such as with Skillshub, Closing Credits, Studio NPC, Wonderland VO and many more 😄
🎙VO tip of the day
Put some plushies in the booth with you ❤️
They're great for a little extra sound treatment! Plus, they make a good booth friend so you don't feel as lonely 😄
A little niche, but Voice Actor Twitter today 🤣
WHERE IS YOUR SWORD??
(I have 3, and a cool dagger that I use to deice the freezer)

🎙️VO tip of the day
Don't suffer alone ❤️
If you're ever stuck with VO-related questions, reach out to a fellow VA, ask on social media or VA discords. Plenty of pros are always happy to help. Just make sure whoever is advising has the experience to back it up 😄
It's out! It's out! It's out!
Hear me as an absolute tonne of cockney femme voice characters in this game 😄
I am that NPC actor you'll be hearing everywhere 🤣
🎙️VO tip of the day:
You're not just auditioning for one role ❤️
You're auditioning for future roles too, so even if you're not a perfect match for a role, go for it anyway, the CD might have another in mind for you later on! Please do respect authentic casting though. 😄
@TheEricGrasso
That's a really nasty way to speak to someone. This could have been said instead:
"Thanks for sending those over, though I'd prefer a version with no improv please. It's really important that we stick to the script here. If you could get those to me by Monday, that'd be great!"

Fun fact:
I'm still not paying for voices dot com, and I still get privately invited to high-profile, decent paying auditions
You don't need to fork out the abhorrent yearly fee
Just make sure your profile is fully kitted out to be discovered by the casting directors on there
So I've been dreading making this post, but, as a queer VA, I feel I have a duty to let others know about the transphobia I've experienced while enrolled in the VA training platform, Closing Credits, and by extension, their parent company, Casting Call Club. - thread 🧵
TLF is out in 2 weeks and I'm so excited! 🤩
I think I technically voice 5 characters in the game 🤔
Plus I did the dialogue audio tech work for all the NPCs (cutscenes, boss fight lines, dialogue) - Not random enemies and sound fx
I'm also the narrator in this video too 👀
🕯️ The answer you've been eagerly awaiting is here.
The Last Faith will be available on November 15
But before The Gates of Mythringal permanently open...

🎙VO tip of the day
Mouth clicks, everyone makes them ❤️
But staying hydrated can reduce them massively. Be sure to drink plenty of water the day before and during your big recording sessions 😄
Let's see how much twitter compression butchers this...
Here's my new resume!
The website /sarah, isn't up yet, but it will be in the next few days 😄

📜Resume or credits list
It's really disappointing to see 153 voice actors on voices dot com responding to an AI training job
$20,000 may look like a great deal now, but you're cutting yourself out of future work
Yeah, $20,000 right now would be life changing... in the short run.
It's not worth it.
