I'm sure some will have a problem with this, but I'm actually optimistic about
#Everton
. Here are 10 reasons why.
1. Moshiri is gone. He's the root cause of virtually every problem at the club. He's gone by the summer. Even if it's 777, they are a major upgrade.
This is a great video, btw. They are literally laughing. Congrats to the
@PGMOL
. They've tried their best to sabotage VAR from day one and they actually have some blaming VAR for human decisions. It isn't VAR, folks. It's the people looking at the screens.
Imagine seriously thinking this...then looking at the 5 year net spend per Transfermarkt:
Manchester United - €694.4M
Everton - € 29.0M
But yes,
#Everton
are really taking advantage of United.
This is so frustrating as Everton are doing this to avoid selling Branthwaite to us for a decent fee. We cannot buy Todibo due to a UEFA rule, but Man City finds loopholes around that (using loans between many clubs they own). So clubs like Man Utd, which have obeyed the rules,
Please Everton fans realize that this kid will need time to not just acclimate but to develop. He's not an immediate solution, but his ceiling is extremely high.
Everton are now set to sign Amadou Onana, here we go! Full agreement with Lille and personal terms too - he wanted Everton despite West Ham proposal accepted. 🚨🔵
#EFC
Everton are also working to get Gana Gueye deal done soon, matter of final details.
Should be an immediate appeal and pushed to next season. Applying a points deduction from two separate evaluation periods in a single season with other cases pending that have still not been addressed is absolute nonsense.
🔵🩺 EXCL: Iliman Ndiaye, currently on Merseyside undergoing medical tests as new Everton player.
OM will receive €18.5m plus €1.5m add-ons, Ndiaye signs a five-year contract until June 2029.
Again, please give this kid time. He's probably not going right into the lineup, and if he does, he's going to make mistakes especially on the defensive end.
Absolute comedy. United's Onana destroys a player with his upper body, Pickford makes lower body contact, doesn't even hit him with his arm, and gets a penalty. PL refereeing is just awful.
It would be fantastic for
#AVFC
&
#Everton
to put something together where both teams overpay for Dobbin / Iroegbunam in independent cash deferred deals to satisfy PSR. The amortization would hurt downstream with the move to the new PSR schema, but it would help for FY24.
This one...the Beto call was terrible, but look at the position of the official here. Oliver is staring dead at the player and the incident. Clear contact.
#Everton
just doesn't get penalty calls.
Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept.
We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times.
NFFC will now consider its options.
The attempt to manipulate public opinion by the
#PremierLeague
ahead of the appeal is nothing short of disgraceful. And not just
#Everton
should be concerned. It's a clear sign to the non-Super League clubs.
🟣🔵 Aston Villa have won 25 Premier League games in 2023, their best score in a calendar year in their entire history.
It’s 81 points in 2023 for
#AVFC
under Unai Emery — only Manchester City have more.
The weight and accuracy of his passes is just so precise at times. Feet, ball control, first touch...a 6'5" guy should not have this kind of touch and agility. He's somewhat wasted in a Dyche setup, but he played another good match yesterday.
People don't want to hear it, but he's right and it's one of many other indicators that the underlying performances have been much better than the results. If they continue, the results will come. That's also not speculation, that's literally what history tells us.
If Anthony Gordon moves for even 40M GBP, it's the 8th highest transfer for an English U23 ever according to Transfermarkt. 50M puts him top 5 of all time. That is a staggering sub for someone that hasn't really shown to be an above average PL player, yet.
So the problem with this play is that Godfrey wasn't checking his shoulder to see the runner from the beginning. As a result, he doesn't pick up the runner initially. Now his closing speed is immense and he makes a great play, but it's just him in a nutshell.
This is literally the exact same play. Considering there is VAR, this is the type of thing that should simply not happen - unless the implementation is wrong, which it has been at every stage. There needs to be better leadership and accountability.
#PremierLeague
@FA_PGMOL
Looking at some of the other deals this window, assuming that fee is accurate,
#Everton
have done very well here. He walks into the starting XI and immediately improves their ability to score and create.
Obivously Beto makes a massive difference, but Gana has come on in this second half and shown tremendous quality and leadership to carry this team forward. The effort and work in the second half has been another level.
So here's the rule...and there is literally no way that could've even made a mark on an opponent let alone endangered them. Zero force, no follow through. The problem is the referees, folks. Not VAR.
🚨🟣🔵 Amadou Onana to Aston Villa, here we go! Deal done for £50m fee and sell-on clause also included.
Formal proposal accepted, five year deal for Onana at Villa valid until June 2029.
Medical being booked then deal set to be signed next week.

For those critiquing Onana, what do you want from him?
He doesn't create enough!
He's 4th in the PL in xA.
He doesn't pass it up the pitch!
Only 3 players with more long passes have a higher completion % (Silva, Rodri, Saliba)
Dyche doesn't want mids carrying the ball.
Brilliant. Everton lose one of their best players and literally their only creative outlet in a meaningless cup match that our manager has been forced to play his strongest side in due to misplaced pressure from the board. Truly idiotic. That sums up the club perfectly.
Everton don't have any cash, so of course they are haggling down upfront fees. That's not on Thelwell.
That's on those responsible for the financial situation at the club and the overall football structure.
Some of the other opinions on here today, my word.
Newcastle have reached an agreement to sign Anthony Gordon, here we go! Deal in place on £40m fee, Everton accepted the proposal 🚨⚪️⚫️
#NUFC
Personal terms also agreed on long term deal.
Gordon will complete medical tests in the next 24/48 hours, as called by
@SkySports_Keith
.
The ball was out by a mile. By a mile. Blow the darn whistle! That play simply doesn't occur if they actually make the call correctly. Absolute disgrace for me.
Going to need someone to explain why Branthwaite is being put alongside some really good defenders here…
There is NOTHING he’s elite at. Nothing. His ball progression is virtually non-existent. He doesn’t pass well. He doesn’t carry it well. He’s avg/decent in the air.
I don't think I'm going out on too much of a limb by saying this might be the worst 23 minutes I've ever seen Everton play in terms of style and execution.
That is unreal. Unreal. How on earth can the
@FA_PGMOL
even pretend to be a legitimate organization at this point?
Zero penalties for
#Everton
this year. Zero.
Some of the criticism of Beto is nothing short of comical. He has 7 goal contributions in just over 1,000 minutes for
#Everton
. Only 1 player has more with 8. Everyone else that’s close to him has > 2,000 minutes of game time.
Everton have been awful, but Onana has been the best player on the pitch BY A MILE. And Gana has made a massive difference coming on. The problem is that you cannot have those guys off the pitch.
As
#Everton
should. For me, big clubs should act like it. They should go out and get the best players they can. Don't compromise on quality to save 10-20M on deals. Otherwise, you'll just watch City, Liverpool, and Arsenal get these types of players to play against you.
🚨 Everton are using the deals for Harry Maguire and Wesley Fofana as a marker for the sale of Jarrad Branthwaite. They were both sold for more than £75m. [
@Dan_Sheldon_

#mufc
Looking at the numbers from last night...Idrissa Gana Gueye had some crazy production, but the most ridiculous one might be that he had 12 recoveries and only played in one half. That's completely nuts.
Obivously Beto makes a massive difference, but Gana has come on in this second half and shown tremendous quality and leadership to carry this team forward. The effort and work in the second half has been another level.
Beto was 25M. There was no cash up front. He’s also nothing like Cenk Tosun. They are almost the complete opposite players. Beto also has 7 goal contributions in just over 1,000 minutes. That’s 2nd on the team in half the minutes of anyone else.
Beto is going to be the next Cenk Tosun (Cenk was better than Beto by the way ) he will be loaned out till his contract runs out and he will leave for free. 30 million pounds 🤦🏻♂️ Thelwell should be sacked for this alone, would love to see the years worth of scout reports
When the managers are saying this stuff out loud, similar to what Dyche said about not getting penalties, it's a problem
@premierleague
. Maybe you should do something to address it?
@FA_PGMOL
So in case you haven't noticed, the inability of the people outside of the football to get deals done has now cost Everton legit shots at guys like Kudus, MGW, Danjuma, and several others. They cannot get deals done quickly enough to beat the rumor mill.
The only way
#Everton
can stay up at this point is hiring a truly excellent tactical manager that can organize this team that is already bereft of talent. Thelwell is the only one with the ability to make that decision, but he won't be permitted to make it.
Iwobi with another assist. Just get him the ball.
And DCL, with a wonderful touch and dribble. For those that think he can't beat players 1 v 1. Fantastic play.
So there are naturally a couple reasons a club does this - either they know the player will push to join them and the deal will be done OR they have comparable targets that they represent the same or better value.
Everton are currently unwilling to increase their valuation on Jaden Philogene. The Toffees met with the players agent this week and believe a fair offer has been made to Hull City 🔵
Quick comparison between Philogene and Minteh. They are right and left footed respectively, so that's a consideration, but both to me are also defensively responsible and have good physical profiles, which are important to Dyche and the
#Everton
recruitment team.
This is a pretty good save, honestly. Yes, DCL could've gotten some elevation on it, but he's deceived Emi into thinking he's going right and didn't scuff it or anything.
I do not understand why anyone would suggest Ellis Simms would play in a 2 over Maupay. If the basis is Simms performance at Sunderland, perhaps one should look at Maupay's performance in that same league. My word.
🚨⚫️🔵 Atalanta have verbally agreed on deal to sign Ben Godfrey from Everton on fee in excess of €10m plus add-ons.
Godfrey’s preference was always Serie A with contract terms being finalized and then medical booked this weekend.
Here we go 🏴
So now some
#Everton
fans are writing off Beto after 800 minutes of game time? Good heavens.
I'll bet I can almost guess the exact logic used by 90% of these individuals.
I won't entertain the genius who thinks
#Everton
's Jarrad Branthwaite is a bad player, but a couple observations and factoids for consideration:
1. He's very young. There are only 3 other 2002s that have played > 1300 minutes at CB this season. (Zabarnyi, Murillo, Mengi).
Beto is going to make a massive difference. It can give Dyche his outlet, push Danjuma wider, allow Maupay to be moved, and while another attack would be nice, there's a lot of options now in the attack when healthy.
Kevin Thelwell confirms Everton have today had a bid accepted for Udinese striker, Beto. A total deal worth up to 30m euros has been agreed. Reported by
@FabrizioRomano
🔵
While it's fine to some extent that the
#PremierLeague
wants to vet prospective owners, the process for
#Everton
has simply taken too long. If they can't get comfortable in 3 months, it should be rejected. It's just utterly ridiculous.
Arsenal's xG last 3 matches: 2.3, 3.2, 2.0.
xG today vs. Everton: 1.0. And well over half of that was after the goal when Everton had to open up.
Transition was an issue, but the defense was massively improved today.
I say this every year, but please do not rush to judge players like Chermiti or even older player like Beto after a half or even a couple appearances of football if you’ve not watched them previously.
@ManagerTactical
@SoccerDadinCali
That team went through Belgium, Spain, and England in the final.
Look at that team, man. Mancini coaching, too. That's no fluke AT ALL.
The most comedic line in this is "The Commission considered that a 10-point sanction was appropriate and explained why over a detailed 41 page Decision."
Their rationale for 10 points was 2 sentences with zero explanation for the amount.
Absolute joke.
#PremierLeague
#Everton
DCMS committee publishes PL chief Richard Masters’ response on Everton PSR case - will not release his witness statement to the independent commission or PL board minutes.
Laughing at those that are saying this looks like a generic stadium...
That's the South stand. It's intentionally taken from a crazy angle, but man does that appear steep.
I think Jack can have a better season for Everton next year. He can play wide or in the SS/10 position. Gives Everton some technical acumen they badly need. Everton still need a top talent at RW and/or SS/10 so hopefully he's not the sole answer at either position.
I don't mean to pick on Ben here, but why on earth would
#Everton
agree to a loan to buy deal for one of their starting CBs? Beyond that, why would Branthwaite move to sit on the bench for Arsenal behind Gabriel and Saliba?
I for one would be very happy with Jarrod Branthwaite🏴
Solid 2-footed CB who can cover both sides for Gabriel & Saliba. A 3rd out and out CB is needed and he’d be perfect.
Added bonus of being homegrown too✅
Hopefully if it happens it’ll be a loan to buy though.
Chermiti may not be ready to lead the line, yet, but he did a really nice job running off of Beto. He's every bit the talent I think
#Everton
were getting when they made that deal.
So in summary, I know it's rough for
#EFC
fans right now. I know it seems like the
#PremierLeague
is against the club as are several other things. But I personally see light at the end of the tunnel and anyone that knows me surely won't accuse me of being an optimist.
