There's a photo/video being shared online of officers removing posters of those kidnapped in Israel from the shutters of a shop in Edgware. We totally understand the concerns raised, but we believe the officers were acting in good faith here. We've set out what we know below:

The remains of my great uncle are in the Repulse at the bottom of the Atlantic - at the mercy of Chinese scrap merchants. How many Chinese students does a country have to allow entry before it has the requisite Soft Power to protect its ancestors from plunderous defilement?

The UK's Higher Education sector is one of our biggest soft power assets globally. Policies that discourage foreign students from UK education is terrible for our global position and for the financial stability of a key part of the UK economy.

I do not buy this. @pritipatel has been ideologically consistent since the 1990’s. She is without doubt a Brexiteer. That means she believes in the nation state of the UK, our democracy and our borders. @RobertJenrick has either had a Damascene conversion or he is not what he

there's an alternative history of subcontinental immigration where a larger Sikh contingent is 'demonised' while a smaller Muslim one is valorised as more in tune with British values (Abrahamic, non-ethnoreligious, etc)

Anglo-Irish George Canning (future PM) ran a Tory journal, 'Anti-Jacobin', featuring Gillray cartoons, his own satiric poems, etc. A poem from 1798 ('The New Morality') reads like a charge sheet of modern liberal pathologies.

The idea that the 'rule of law' means adherence to a transnational European court was literally conjured out of thin air by the ECJ as recently as 1986 ["Les Verts" c/ Parlement européen] (a judgement whose rank illegality is matched only by its own brazen "ENEL" verdict of '64)

The hegemony enjoyed by British NGOs at Strasbourg cannot be overstated (anecdote below). Its fault is not being "foreign"; far from it, it lies precisely in having been remade in the image of a parasitical London legal-NGO class - not unlike the British state itself of course...

If Sunak thinks the ECHR is a foreign court because it sits in Strasbourg does he think Nato is a foreign defence body because its HQ is in Brussels? Asking for a nation.

Borges's wry, 1-page 'biography' of Spengler. "The Germans tend to consider [the universe] a simple motive, a mere material cause for their enormous dialectical structures - always groundless, but always grandiose".

By implying that there is something tragic about these comics (mocking the country into oblivion etc), they ironically reproduce the Blairite discourse of fatal inevitability that is their supposed target ("You might as well debate whether autumn should follow summer" etc).

People talk of the 'Overton Window' (silly metaphor imo). Here's another articulation of the same concept. What is the most extreme, most terminally insane, most catastrophically unpopular idea ever expressed by someone with working experience in government?

The attempt to create a culture of deference centred around the NHS has always been a particularly Conservative phenomenon. Cameron was already calling it the great achievement of the 20thC in 2006.

Another links it to a renewal of 'deference', suggests that the Conservative project ought now to be "*artificially* recreate English rational deference to the new constitution". (capturing something of the ludicrous Cameroon veneration of R institutions and R communities etc)

The most momentous show trial of the 20th century, rivalling in impact anything Vyshinsky cooked up in Moscow. (All the conspirators - judges, jurists and bureaucrats alike - were Catholic). The lead judge had his personal papers destroyed before his death to cover it up.

They were given missions but they had no Mission. Their own place in the social hierarchy was not examined, rather *taken for granted*, while they similarly made no moral imposition on their host countries.

This is what decadence looks like. Far more than perverts playing fancy dress. The decaying of authority, loss of nerve, sinking into ossified gestures and slogans, the state's will drifting further from the public's, inability to recognise/adapt to radically altered conditions.

Now what's interesting is that Keir Starmer meets ALL of these categories: enterprising human rights lawyer, campaigner, academic writer + active in NI. Cameron & Starmer the heirs to Blair? No. Blair & Cameron the heirs to Starmer! Starmer is the human distillation of Blob.
