Getting fucked off with the Wikipedia user that keeps editing portraits of political leaders to have the coloured background of their party colour without consulting anyone as this doesn't happen with any other country wikibox
Because I'm now moving out I'm probably safe to say that this news article was about my house, although I'm not one of the tenants that took the Landlord to tribunal.
I may also say, my landlord was a candidate in 2023 for the ACT party, how funny!
"Raise the drinking age to 20"
Youth drinking has been on the decline for years, if you want to reform alcohol laws ban advertising because it is literally a recreational drug.
Completely oblivious
Why the hell should someone earning 90,000 anually get an 50 DOLLARS MORE in tax cuts than those earning 30,000?
Trickle Down DOES NOT WORK
More for the rich!

@cjsbishop
not sure what the problem is here Christopher, might it be that young people don't much care for the national party's endless babble about more car infrastructure
Someone on wikipedia has obviously decided that ACT is now a Pink party, one of the more interesting subplots in the history of act is its changing of colours, It actually started out as teal!
@cjsbishop
"Paul said she hoped for a ban on all private vehicles in key inner-city streets"
Dont believe that SH1 is an inner-city street Chris, sounds like scaremongering methinks.
@cjsbishop
Subjecting people who literally cannot work due to physical or mental illness (49%) who are on the same welfare due to the last national government to constant pressure to go back into work will not help with the cost of living crisis. Increasing disability benefits would.
@OliverLewis
Christchurch needs commuter rail like yesterday, I hate to admit it as a wellingtoncel but that city deserves so much better from central government
@antihobbes
This is why its a little hilarious to see people campaigning on "low taxes" "cutting benefits" and "leaving it to the free market." We have already tried that strategy and it does not work
whenever wellington falls into some money, we're probably safe to demolish the shops here and redevelop the space into a proper city hall, put an underpass for cuba st, intergrate some council housing, make it 10 stories with a clocktower, done.
@NicolaWillisMP
Cutting taxes on top earners won't help me Nicola, in fact, as corporate profits seem to still be hitting records they should be paying more.
@henrycooke
... yeah prohibition doesn't suddenly work because youre banning cigarettes, I suspect this is Dr Verrals doing because she did mention this idea once during the campaign. Just giving the black market another revenue stream.
I think what ive learned is that New Zealand really is a small country, most election results are landslides here. Our mood changes quickly and I think James Shaw put it best when he said that the campaigns dont matter when a block of cheese is $13 and housing is half your income
I am excited that Wellington will eventually get a light rail line, but what are some ways that the light rail line can become a network over the years?
Although there are many things about this country that dissapoint me, the fact that behind our parliament building is not skyscrapers or suburbs but a forested hill is beautiful
I've been struggling to find out information about the deputy leader of the NZ party Janie Pearce but I had no idea WAYNE BROWN was an NZ party candidate in 1984
@cjsbishop
@RebeccaJEmm
Is national's priority keeping people off the streets or ensuring landlords can treat people like cattle, whatever problems tenants may have that leaves a landlord or PM wanting an eviction will not be solved by making them homeless, in fact it could kill them.
@speedyisnotokay
@ShinjiTheCuban
"Of course they need the military budget to protect itself from imperialism"
"So what if theyre transphobic you cant control that"
My latest attempt at making a realistic future wellington rail map, this time with the actual Metlink font sneakily pirated off the internet. Much happier with it than my previous maps, still a bit clunky imo and tohutō weren't included in the fonts I downloaded.
literally the oldest job in history but sure let's keep doing this hullabaloo that sex work is simultaneously degrading to workers but also those workers don't deserve rights to be treated fairly for demanding work
@cjsbishop
I'll let you in on a little secret, trashing plans currently in motion will make things take longer, wave a magic wand to speed up MRT if you want but I feel as if National would implement unpopular policies that ruin progress on environmental sustainability
I thought it would be a nice idea to make a map of current and former schools in the Wairarapa to highlight the shift towards urbanization in New Zealand, shocking the amount of small rural schools that have been lost.
@Tiare_MP
Adern, Cunliffe, Shearer, Goff and Clark were all Aucklanders?
The exceptions have been Hipkins and Little who are from the Hutt and New Plymouth. Like I get auckland thinks it's the underdog despite being the biggest city in NZ but come on.
Just before full results by polling location come out Ive been working on a map of the Election Results in Wairarapa for the Candidate Vote between
@Kieran_McAnulty
and Mike Butterick by Statistical Area
I hope this may be as interesting to someone else as it is to me
