🐶Spike can now lounge around, chase tennis balls & go fishing! Spike is now retired. We are sad😢to see him go, but he has earned his rest! From locating a murder suspect to seizing drugs to finding weapons, Spike has done it all! Thank you for your service, Spike!
After 20 years of service, Officer Allen is joining his partner Spike in retirement! We are sad to see him go & wish him well as he moves on to the next chapter of his life. Congratulations Officer Allen!
There is a new K9 in town🐶& his name is Rood. He & Ofc. Jandura hit the streets last week after their 6 week training at Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, IN. Rood was born in the Netherlands 3/8/19. He is trained is narcotics detection, tracking, area searches & handler protection
With great sadness we announce the passing of retired Police K9, Spike. Spike served the citizens of Romeoville with retired Ofc John Allen. Together they captured a murder suspect, an attempted murder suspect, 9 armed robbers, & located 9 guns. Spike will be missed.
If you know who this young person is please contact Sgt. Michienzi at 815-886-7219. He is non-verbal & is unable to tell us who he is or where he lives.

After 40 years of service to the residents of Romeoville, Chief Turvey👮♂️retires tomorrow!🎉Congratulations!🎊40 years is a long time! In fact, none of the current officers had even graduated from high school yet. Half the officers weren't even born🐣by the time he started!😮
UPDATE: the suspect is in custody & there is no longer an active threat to the public. Officers are still in the area investigating. Thank you for your patience & thank you for your concern for our officer.
Thanks to everyone for re-tweeting this post. His family was located about 20 minutes after the this was posted. We sent out an update, however the the re-tweets are still occurring. We just want to let everyone know he has been reunited with his family.

The other day, Officer Bejda, who was just arriving to work, noticed two baby deer trapped in our generator bay (don't know how they got there). But she & Evidence Custodian Rizzatto were able to free them!

There are 1 7 families enjoying Thanksgiving dinner today thanks to the Romeoville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 15 who passed out dinners this week.
You may remember a few weeks ago we posted about a mama bird who laid eggs in the PD parking lot. She is still there & we set up a perimeter around her (because that's what cops do). There are 4 eggs. We can walk by her now without her screeching at us! 😃👍I think she likes us!
Chief Turvey was suprised by his staff today, who had dedicated the department's forensic evidence / crash response van to him. Chief Turvey was instrumental in the designing, developing & acquiring of this state-of-the-art vehicle.

It is with deep sadness to inform the community that our Police K9 and Officer Tracy Caliendo’s partner, Kody, passed away this morning at the age of 8.

Shout out to Romeoville Public Works for the outstanding work plowing & salting streets. It seems like they have been working nonstop for the past week & a half through some very extreme & dangerous weather!
