Amid uncertainty about commencement, some Roanoke seniors threw an impromptu graduation ceremony before they left campus, complete with caps and gowns, speeches and even “diplomas” made of USA Today pages.

After working through multiple scenarios and hearing from many members of the Roanoke College community, President Mike Maxey announced today that College administration has made the decision to allow students to choose between living on campus or staying home.

In a surprise ceremony at the state capitol yesterday, the Virginia General Assembly honored President Maxey with a resolution to express “deep thanks to Maxey’s four decades of service to the Commonwealth.”
Athletic Director Scott Allison '79 is signing off this week after 37 years at Roanoke College, and we wish him a retirement as wonderful as he is!

Effective in fall 2024, Roanoke will offer a new Cannabis Studies Program allowing students to earn a degree in either the science of cannabis or the social justice and policy of cannabis regulation.
