This yew tree in Sussex is over 1000 years old, and was standing before William the Conqueror divided up England. Now it's at risk from being destroyed by @CenterParcsUK along with 553 acres of ancient woodland. We organised a mass trespass with @LandscapesofF to #SaveWorthForest

Over five hundred people joined our protest against the pay-walling of Cirencester park yesterday, which is set to introduce charges after 336 years of being freely open to the public. Residents will now have to pay a fee and submit photo ID just to go for a walk in their park.

BEHOLD! The Iron Wall of Somerset. In a field just outside the town of Frome, the footpath has been given a makeover. The landowner has installed an avenue of spiked iron railings to keep local residents out. The previous owner had happily allowed open access for decades.

SUCCESS! After our mass trespass in Sussex last year, Waterhall in Brighton is now open to the public! 🌼🚶🏽‍♀️🌄 This hasn't been without difficulties and there's a long way to go for wider access in the region, but it's a huge step in the right direction. Mass trespass works!

ON THIS DAY in 2003 - The Scottish Land Reform Act was given Royal Assent and Scotland's Right to Roam became law 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 This act granted essentially free access to the Scottish countryside for all, along with a new code of responsibilities. We will ensure the same for England!

Right to Roam @EveryonesStars @Team_BMC and @RamblersGB are agreed: any deal which reduces long held rights to wafer thin 'permissive' agreements with major landowners is unacceptable. There must be a full restoration of public rights on Dartmoor.

The legendary Charles Darwin grew up on a 7 acre estate in Shropshire, which he described as a “paradise”. He later purchased Down House in Kent and spent his days taking regular countryside walks. Would his theory of evolution have been developed without access to nature? 🧵1/12
