It is with a heavy heart that we today bear the loss of former manager Dave Ponch Rausch. He is the only Royal in the Minnesota Baseball HOF and he was instrumental in the progress of Richmond baseball. He was also a beloved member of the community and an excellent person.

Words are tough to come up with right now. Amateur Baseball scorekeeper, ambassador, and legend Art Schlangen has passed away. His impact on Amateur Baseball especially within Stearns County Baseball is and will be forever reaching. He will be missed.

Still in shock but Art was one of the best guys around. Could talk baseball for hours. Studied the rule book at night, did scorebook in his free time, coached, and there wasn’t a Premium he turned down. We’ll miss you Art.

Royals win 7-2 over Watkins tonight. Luke Jokela goes 9 innings giving up 2 ER in the first and that’s it. Offense pounded out 16 hits lead by Cole Schmitz who was 3-5 with 2 2B’s and 2 RBI. Chase Aleshire was also 3-5. We play Sunday at 11am!

Royals win the championship game today 9-7! 6-0 in tournament games this year and two tournament victories on the year. Chase Aleshire with a 3 run bomb to break it open in the 6th.

He also batted batted a career .874 and had a slugging percentage next to 3.467 for the Royals according to every Royal and Royal fan you ask. (Seriously don’t look it up, he was that good just trust us)

Jon Dold batted 596 for St. John’s @SJU_Baseball in 1993. That’s the highest batting average ever in the MIAC. After that season, Dold was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds and played in their farm system. He also played basketball for the Johnnies. #throwbackthursday

Last weekend we had the great opportunity to honor the 1972 Richmond Royals, the first team in our history to make the State Tournament. Can’t believe it’s been 50 years. Afterwards we were lucky enough to sing Schnitzelbank with those same guys, celebrating a victory!
