Many drivers do not realize they need to dip beams for others. Some don't know how to. And a large number retrofit too-bright unfocussed LED bulbs that dazzle even on low beams. The situation is getting worse with time.

Accidents like this are more likely when drivers fail to check their side-view mirrors, especially on blind curves where visibility is compromised.
Establishing a routine of regularly inspecting these mirrors is vital, as it minimizes blind spots and heightens awareness of

@TopDriverIndia
Won't happen in India. Why?
1. Indian police can't use handcuffs.
2. Big, black SUV = "Jaanta nhi mera baap kaun hai?" = cops keep away.
3. PIT manoeuvres damage govt property = cops won't damage expensive cars.
4. Pedestrians' life is cheap.
5. Such things are God's will.
Every driver wants to get ahead of the other car on Indian roads, so refuse to stick to a single lane. What happens if we actually follow lanes? We make equal, if not faster, progress. Watch this:

Unless driving trainers are themselves trained to drive safely, by qualified & certified trainers, this is a problem that will continue forever. A graduate in Mech. Engg. or diploma in Automobile Engg. with 5yo DL isn't enough to teach others to drive.
This is what learning drivers are learning.

The two headlights visible in your left door mirror (ORVM) mean there is enough space for you to merge in front of the heavy vehicle you just overtook.
Clearly, an SUV, even with 4wd,does not make one invincible. This is on a straight stretch of road just after a speedcam, where people floor the accelerator as a routine. Obviously, fixed automated OSVD cameras are not a deterrent.

I've observed this many times.
They're safe as long as the truck doesn't brake.
They are not aware of Safe following distance and this forms a cluster which in turn is dangerous for all.

To note:
- Dashcam car is in lane 1.
- Blue car has right wheel across lane marker. He's obviously overtaking, too busy to check right rear-view mirror.
Do's/don'ts:
1. Do not overtake an overtaking car.
2. Do not attempt to squeeze through when your lane is partially blocked.

Driver education has to be preceded by basic education. When an uneducated citizen "procures" a DL from a small town, and buys a new car, he fulfils his own dream, but can extinguish the dreams of many others. Managed to avoid a sideswipe crash with 1 such specimen this evening.
