Flight 5 Starship and Super Heavy are ready to fly, pending regulatory approval. Additional booster catch testing and Flight 6 vehicle testing is planned while waiting for clearance to fly
If Elon left SpaceX tomorrow, they'd struggle far, far less than if Gwynne left tomorrow.
She's the real puppet master pulling the strings both in the public eye and behind the scenes.
So happy to have her as the President of SpaceX
Here's the full 16-minute edited video of
@Gwynne_Shotwell
speaking to the Texas House of Representatives. I removed pauses and answers by other panel members. It contains some great information
Raptor V3 just achieved 350 bar chamber pressure (269 tons of thrust). Congrats to
@SpaceX
propulsion team!
Starship Super Heavy Booster has 33 Raptors, so total thrust of 8877 tons or 19.5 million pounds.
Controversial take. But this doesn't look too bad.
Maybe some fuel leaks towards the engines and some fires from a HPU possibly blowing, but it's better than most expected
Most engines successfully flown on a single rocket (33)
The largest mass launched above the karman line in 1 go (over 1000 tons)
Largest vehicle to perform hotstaging
Any more???
NEWS: China space authorities name SpaceX an βunprecedented challengeβ and a βDeep sense of crisisβ is needed if China is to narrow technology gap and become a world-leading space power by 2045. Chinese aerospace workers urged to overcome complacency and work harder to keep up
The scary thing is, if Betelgeuse exploded some 640 years ago (642 light years away), the earth would essentially be put into a 2 month day. We wouldn't see night for 2 whole months with how much light this explosion will give off.
NASA: Hey SpaceX, we need an ISS deorbit vehicle??
SpaceX: Do you remember how super heavy has 33 engines? Why don't we do that, but for crew dragon?
NASA: You crazy son of a beach. IM IN
With the damage to the OLM, I believe SpaceX was forced to commit to launch.
The OLM, as it is most likely, won't support a full booster.
We noticed the ship "hovered" almost at release for a second before lifting.

Breaking: New Glenn will officially be flying ESCAPADE as it's first payload for its first launch, its NET date is currently set for August 2024. B.O is going to Mars!
HOLD UP!!!!
Starship V2 /Booster V2 has a major change I've not seen many mention...
A 2nd BQD port meaning they could half the propellant loading time
Didn't even know of the launch cos no notification saying "SpaceX Launch" which i get on YT.
Yes i will keep complaining about X streaming cos its poor
Bezos feels like a less annoying Elon. An incredibly smart man who knows this vehicle inside out and hopefully will provide some great new information, like how Elon does for SS and F9.
Ever wonder what
@blueorigin
is up to? Well, on Thursday August 15th, you won't have to wonder any more! Join me as I take you inside Blue Origin's New Glenn factory for the FIRST TIME EVER with
@JeffBezos
as our tour guide! You will NOT want to miss this!!!
Fun fact. To get a vandemberg launch license SpaceX had to tie down a seal, strap headphones on it, and see how it reacted to a sonic boom. The seal didn't react.
This was to ensure the sonic booms wouldn't impact seals off the coast
SpaceX could stop development of Raptor at R3 and have the best engine ever flown by a good margin.
But I'm confident they find a way to make it substantially better for an R4 version which absolutely shocks the aerospace industry
The number of people wanting this to fail is disgusting.
Somebody has risked their life to further technology and we should wish this patient nothing but the best.
The future is now
Seeing how well IFT-2 went, I'm struggling to see how they let the first one fly. Stage Zero is now how it was always meant to be.
IFT-3 will improve even more on IFT-2, just like IFT-2 did on IFT-1. I'm confident it will make it to SECO no issues at all
@AnxiousHolly
Good. Apple needs to understand that type c was chosen because of its COMPATIBILITY with all devices.
Not so they can have a monopoly on charging speeds
These issues have only happened since moving to X.
@elonmusk
@SpaceX
I understand using your own platform but when it's significantly inferior to YouTube for streaming in almost every way possible it's a terrible move. Viewers are a fraction of what they use to be.
The difference is, this vehicle is actually certified and has been approved as safe. has flown people to space several times already and hopefully will continue too.
Also its not $450,000
No tiles removed, a very clean cut.
I don't think this is the end. Unless we see the cone flattened tonight I believe its been cut in the middle for easier transport.
It is easier to move a 9x25m object than a 9x50m object.
@joebarnard
So happy you've finally landed but also sad as this is what got BPS started and now it's done what's next? Try to reliably land model rockets? Attempting larger motor landings from greater altitudes?
With IFT-2 closing in, these are my expectations.
Take off: will be off the pad at t+2 or 3 clearing the tower before IFT-1 cleared the launch ring.
31 engines will be firing by t+10 with only 2 more shutting down before Stage Sep.
(Possibility we have a rud at maxQ)
SpaceX Falcon 9 B1058 seen rolling past the KSC press site this morning. It is easily identifiable thanks to the NASA worm logo under all that soot.
Heading to the launch pad for flight number 1οΈβ£8οΈβ£ π€―
Anyone who says a failure is a huge setback needs to step back. They have 3 vehicles ready and a fourth, almost ready. This program is going full steam ahead
Failure = knowledge
Lego set 10301 SpaceX Falcon 9 was due to be an April 2022 release but never came to be.
This was a 1:110 scale model with a payload fairing
The existence of this project has been confirmed via a reliable leaker.
Within the next 12 months I'm gonna say:
Pad B will be gone
Entire suborbital side will be gone
Tower 2 foundations will be done
Orbital farm 2 will commence construction
Okay, so hear me out. B9 makes it to its water landing, BUT the hotstage ring sustains substantial damage at stage sep.
S25 makes it to SECO with minimal issues, but due to losing some heat shields it burns up on reentry.
Super confident vs IFT-1
