I'm a journeyman union electrician. A little about that since we don't use our brain. 4 years school, 6,000 hours documented work, 1 week annual training and testing to maintain my license, then an AS in Computer Science to be able to program PCs, robotics and PLCs. Yeah no brain

I work a job that has caused me to have back, hand and eye surgery. I work on 4160 volt systems daily where one small mistake will completely vaporize my body. I live in a state where health care is pitiful at best and labor law is worse. If you want to work longer, be my guest.

Today we learned that our HR manager has been terminated. I myself have seen 4 HR managers and 7 plant managers come and go while the union maintains it's power. It has been terrible with this HR person but through solidarity we've withstood the constant attacks. 1/2

If there's a positive takeaway today it's seeing the entire labor movement across the US and the world still standing in solidarity with organize the South. That's a beautiful sight and one we don't take for granted.

@UnionElections 7 employees laid off against the CBA for 6 months recalled with backpack and all benefits made whole. Can't remember the exact number but roughly $750,000. Good day for the home team.

@DavidGriscom Let's be real, Obama was as much a Republican as Bush was. That's hard for a lot of liberals to square themselves with but history doesn't lie. Even the ACA was a gigantic tax payer infusion in to private health insurance plans.

This morning our HR Department was terminated as the company moves to an automated system. Every single one has battled our union for years over the most simple solutions we've proposed. Sucks to realize you bet on the wrong horse.

For the first time I'm contemplating going to work at a non-union factory. With the organizing work UAW is doing I'm thinking it may be worth organizing a committee. I'm sick of everything about this place and don't want to work non-union. Been a long week of internal strife.
