At 16, I got D's and F's.
Now, (18) I've coded a particle sim from scratch, written papers on fusion, and i'm building a fusion reactor.
These three principals were fundamental to my accelerated growth.
1. proximity to smart people is the quickest way to grow
Find a genius,
Just got a
@1517fund
grant to build EBay for fusion with my best friend
@KrishivThakuria
.
So excited to potentially make a massive impact on the field of fusion, and do it with my best friend.
My mindset right now is move fast and fail fast.
More updates soon.
We nearly signed $250k+ in orders and shut down - Here's why
I'm 18 and I co-founded the first search engine for fusion energy components
We enabled companies to source components in 60s
One CTO was ready to pay a 50% component markup for our value
Outreach is key, but with
I'm building eBay for Nuclear Fusion with my best friend Krishiv Thakuria.
Thanks to
@1517fund
, I'll be in San Francisco from March 31st to April 4th. If you would like to meet feel free to shoot a DM!
I've created a proposal that lowers the cost of hydrogen-3 by 93%!
Fusion reactors may be running out of fuel before they get started
Hydrogen-3 (the reactor fuel) is not found in nature, and our 25kg reserve is running out fast
Hydrogen-3 costs $22,000/g right now
My
Had an amazing convo with the
@Replit
CTO at the recent demo.
We talked for a good 20 minutes.
It’s so wholesome to ask big people about the little things.
I didn’t want to network, I just wanted to learn from a really smart person.
Talk to the person, not the role.
I nearly got funded to build a nuclear energy startup when I was 17
I wanted to build industrial microreactor farms to produce tritium
I pitched my thesis to investors, but my ask was too low for the fund
By simply asking for more, I could’ve gotten that funding
In reality, I
you really don’t know who people are until you meet them irl.
Met
@FarzaTV
yesterday.
Farza’s kindness and charisma felt so intrinsic, he is really amazing.
Also, really cool meeting everyone from the
@_buildspace
sf2 batch building what they love.
— thanks for the hoodie!
One conversation can change your life.
It was an honor to meet all these really smart and cool people today.
My perspectives were shattered, and I'm so grateful for that.
Success makes you satisfied, and satisfaction makes you slow down.
I'm so grateful that tonight I got to
In 5 days I've grown 10x by meeting some of the smartest people in San Francisco!
I embraced my ignorance and learnt from those with decades more wisdom than me.
I don't want mentorship on something I can figure out in 15 hours. My ability to figure things out will compound
We’re teenagers.
Last week, we were competing at a Toronto hackathon with a startup idea.
Now we’re flying out to SF to build our startup, backed by the 1517 Fund.
In 60 seconds, this is what we want you to know:
I developed a brute force-proof data encryption algorithm
I've upgraded my encryption algorithm to 256 bit key encryption with arithmetic-based ciphering
For ex. the message "Hey" is encrypted into the following
Ethical hacking is such a unique thrill
In the past, I've coded with AI and developed plasma simulations
I found it unfulfilling because they didn't really challenge the skills unique to my mind - Until you reach the edge of the field, coding AI is a task done just fine by GPTs
I'll also be producing helium-3 with this method
Helium-3 is in high demand, but is only found on the Moon - so it costs $17,000/g
Later on, I'll likely figure out a method of extracting the produced helium-3
But building this was not a failure - I grew 10x through guidance from lots of amazing people who were key to our journey
Learning about desires and drive from
@julianweisser
helped me find exceptional work I effortlessly obsess over
@cory
@reply
I graduated high-school last year (and I’m not going to college), and since then I’ve:
- built a marketplace for fusion nearly signing more than $250k in orders in 30 days
- developed 3D plasma simulators
- written research papers in tritium breeding and electromagnets
- built
I was trying to decrypt a coded message the other day in a capture-the-flag ethical-hacking game
I attempted to brute force at first, attempting all possible keys
But the number of possible combinations was beyond my computing capability
I needed a more meticulous approach
It was super energizing to lead our first demo!
We’ve discovered even more non-obvious problems that are wasting companies lots of money.
We’re so excited to develop a solution that lets researchers focus on the work that matters—making fusion a reality!
Demoed our prototype and shared our vision to the CTO of a fusion company
He’s been getting scammed buying equipment off of eBay that doesn’t even work
He’s thrilled about what we’re building and willing to sign a letter of intent
I’ve never been more excited about something
I coded a data encryption algorithm from scratch! - here's how
First I generate 5 unique keys like "uh3L2sq1e0"
I break up and scramble the message "Hello" into the 5 unique keys
Each key would be sent to a recipient separately
Knowing the original keys let's be decrypt the
Lastly, thank you so much
@1517fund
for kicking off our journey with a Medici Grant
Flying to SF with your support enabled us to meet dozens of amazing people that accelerated our work and growth exponentially
@MaxNewlon
has continued to guide us through every part of our journey
Almost every day I learn something from Max
His ability coach and help you thrive at your own will has let grow intensely this past year
Every fusion reactor proposal in ~ 2 mins
1. the cylinder
- a basic linear cylinder wrapped in wires
- the current heated gas to a state of plasma
- this was our first unofficial reactor geometry
- gas went in one side, got heated to a plasma state, and went out the other
Even though we never made it to raising, I'm really grateful to have learnt from
@somefoundersalt
Learning from someone building a high-performing space tech company is insane - I've learnt the keys to fundraising from someone absolutely crushing it
Ethical hacking is such a unique thrill
In the past, I've coded with AI and developed plasma simulations
I found it unfulfilling because they didn't really challenge the skills unique to my mind - Until you reach the edge of the field, coding AI is a task done just fine by GPTs
Just pitched our startup for the first time to VCs at Stanford!
It’s my last night here and I can’t wait to be heads-down building again
Excited for what’s to come!
I was completely captivated listening to
@andrew_zolli
's talk at World Summit AI
Andrew and his team at
@planet
are saving lives by mapping our Earth from satellites to monitor deforestation, floods, and volcanic eruptions - Among many other things
They're watching our backs
Do you like Magic?
This guy just blew my mind, repeatedly.
Coolest part is that we met by walking up to a random guy at the airport in Toronto.
If you see someone and you want to say hi, don’t let the nervous voice hold you back!
Strong drive is rooted in irrational desires
Desires that drive you could be completely irrational
But because they're rooted in a deep psychological experience, they drive you intensely
Ex. trying to prove yourself to your parents
Lots of the VCs I've met are driven by a
10% of global car sales are EV, but only 28% of greenhouse gases are due to vehicles.
So what’s the other 72%?
- Industry
- Agriculture
- Electric Power
An issue caused on an industrial level - must be solved on an industrial level.
#fusionenergy
Above all, working with my co-founder
@KrishivThakuria
was the greatest point of growth
We constantly pushed each other to perform exceptionally and make smart moves at every step
@JohnnyNi13
I thought about something similar today when submitting my 776 application.
Complex explanations are a sign that you lack understanding—and when you understand concepts from first principles explaining them with simple terms is the more intuitive thing to do.
My year long dream to build a fusion reactor has begun, and the innovation is kicking off.
To feed 30kV (three car batteries of electricity) into my reactor to create fusion, I need a high voltage feedthrough that can sustain all that energy.
A part that can handle that costs
Fusion reactor update for you folks
6 car batteries vs one spark plug 😎
Spark plugs create the explosions that make cars move. Explosions = no good.
I need this mechanical component in its bare bones! -- just the center electrode.
That means removing the metal tip and
@MohidSayrab
@KrishivThakuria
Hi Mohid!
We’re helping companies in fusion source components more quickly, and with more certainty.
Companies in fusion lose lots of time looking for used components, we centralize components in our marketplace making it easy to find what you need.
some non-obvious moonshot bets being made right now:
Microsoft: Underwater data centers
Virgin Galactic: Earth point-to-point space travel
Google: Internet communication via balloons
Anyone optimistic about these?
10 Bits of Wisdom from My Chat with Founder of
@MarvelLabs3D
(thread)
Marvellabs uses biowaste to 3D print products. What I loved about Jake’s approach is that his startup isn't just mission-driven—it’s also producing products massively cheaper than competitors. Insane.
I’m continuing to study Einsteins genius.
Throughout his whole life Einstein was despised, particularly by the scientific community.
By nature his work always challenged the status quo. His work was noble, yet highly agitative of those who didn’t understand him. AKA everyone.
Do you find following emerging tech research difficult with all the technical jargon?
I do, that's why I've built The Scholarly Digest, it distills research in deep tech into simple short news.
DM for early access.
Realizing cheap and abundant energy is a catalyst in accelerating the technological growth of society.
Fusion energy is the technology that will accelerate us toward a type 1 civilization and beyond.
@AnanthVeluvali
Yes, but I also think none of those matter.
the value of your actions is relative to the direction you want. (+ direction is driven by your intense desires for something)
Most people waste lots of time in life doing things that don’t take them in the direction they actually

TKS being a full time school is every TKS students biggest dream.
@iamalexhu
did a really cool project earlier this year with Laurette College to get to that vision.
Confidence in fusion energy is causing an exponential increase in fusion energy startups.
Most fusion energy startups are started by technical scientists with unique insights into fusion tech.
Pre-2000s, the majority of plasma physics would tell you fusion is infeasible.

AI advancements is enabling lots of blockchain tech to also advance
With easy to implement and cheaper applications blockchain will hit a massive inflection point

Changed how I approached every project. The book offers a major mindset shift that's not obvious.
TL;DR: Greatness requires you focus on mastery and learning. All else follows.

It was incredible chatting with you about desires and passions. Our conversation was the a major driving factor in helping me understand the desires that drive me.
we converse in one of two modes:
1. Performace: thinking of what behaviour will yield a desired response.
2. Authentic: not thinking, simply speaking your immediate thought.
I've found great joy in mode two and excessive stress in mode one.
Choose wisely.
From conversation with 50+ successful entrepreneurs, here’s what they had in common:
- A strong sense of urgency toward goals
- Constantly adapt for changing roles
- Thrive in uncertainty
- Excellent communication skills

I want friends who match my intense desire for growth.
I left my high school friends last year, and figured my new high growth friends would be 4lifers.
But I seem to desire growth more than most.
I don't just want to get impressive results, I want to squeeze value out of

If you’re putting in the time necessary to build a successful startup, your co-founder will be who you spend 90% of your time with. So choose someone who you’d actually be friends with.
@dsutherland00
The Wright brothers were a marvelous example of unconventional ability.
There’s a really great recollection of their story on the “How to Take Over the World” podcast I recommend. One on my favorites.
make luck work for you
luck isn't a magical orb
luck is when opportunity meets the prepared mind
work on your skills and do it consistently
when an opportunity presents itself be ready to shut out the noise and catch it with killer intensity
