Almost 230 new trainee detectives were attested today at

’s National Detective Programme academy.

at the ceremony and will soon be deployed across 14 forces in England and Wales.

Over 220 new trainee detectives land in 14 forces across England and Wales today, having completed

’s National Detective Programme academy. They now continue training in force and will be PIP2 certified by the end of the two-year programme.

Interesting fact: in the late 1960's, Sislin Fay Allen became the first Black female police officer in the United Kingdom paving the way for other Black female officers

today, having just completed our National Graduate Leadership Programme academy. They will work as neighbourhood officers to support communities, reduce crime and build public confidence in policing.
Today we welcomed over 300 officers to our

academies for their attestation. Our officers will train at the
#NGLPacademy
before being deployed into forces across the country. We are excited to support their journey as they begin their careers as neighbourhood officers.
Here’s an interesting fact: Detective Sergeant Roberts was thought to be the first black police officer in the United Kingdom in 1966, until it was found that John Kent, the son of a Caribbean slave beat his record when he joined the police force in 1837 (1/2)
