Went to a dealer yesterday to buy a truck. Here’s how it went:
They lied about towing capacity
They lied about interest rates
They pressured us to buy more truck than our budget
They way under valued our trade-in
They said it was impossible to order the options we wanted
The American dealership system should be torn out at the roots. It’s a mess from start to finish. Walked out and immediately bid on a used tow vehicle. Not worth dealing with dealers.
I'm glad I dedicated my life to automotive media just in time to watch a bunch of greedy corporate dipshits slowly dismantle it all and destroy careers for fun
Hoonigan Phase 1 - an extreme sports brand for car dorks
Phase 2 - scumbags that do burnouts
Phase 3 - burned out, but corporations are giving us lots of $ to build crazy shit
Phase 4 - We bought nice cars and don't want to mess them up
Phase 5 - Shareholder Value
When we said the tow package and trailer brakes were a deal breaker, we could “get one installed for under a thousand dollars.”
They gave the good cop bad cop runaround.
The sales mgr said “statistically if you walk out you’re not coming back, so how do we get this done today?”
I need someone to explain to me why society thought it was a good idea to lift our sports cars and put them on off-road tires while lowering our SUVs and making them “track ready”.
What kind of hit is Tesla taking by offering a .99% promotion?!
What I would suggest is secure financing from another bank and paying 6-7% like any other law abiding citizen.
If you take Tesla’s offer you are basically sucking them dry in a time of need. A very selfish act.
The Regal TourX is officially for sale. It's been a faultless daily-driver high-spec AWD German-built wagon since we bought it in 2018. It has 100,500 miles on the odometer, and it'll definitely keep going for many more. It has every option but the sunroof. Asking $13,250 OBO.
In 1986 Toyota sold the MR2, Mk3 Supra, Celica, Corolla FX16, and Corolla AE86 all at the same time, but in 2024 it's damn near impossible to get a coupe or a manual. How did we let this happen?
Millennials and Gen Z are having fewer children than the last few generations, and while wealth is harder earned for them, are moving into their adult wage-earning years.
If they/we don't need second and third rows, are we going to witness the return of the personal coupe?
I’m pretty sure my neighbor got heat lamps instead of spot lights for their Halloween decorations. I would love to see their electric bill come November 1.
If I were CEO of a company that lost 40% of its value year to date, I simply would not ask company shareholders to approve a $56B pay package. But I guess I’m built different.
Does anybody *really* care about tech in motorsport? It seems like there's no reason we can't have this kind of racing again (admittedly with updated safety). It would look cool and could be done on the cheap.
An absurd amount of performance for $10k
My friends: I want a cheap manual sports car with more power than a Miata. And flip-up headlights would be nice.
Me:
If you have the opportunity to buy a house, don’t. It’s just an endless cycle of calling contractors, getting them to do half a job poorly, then they ghost you and you have to hire another one to fix the first one’s mistakes.
It’s hell, and not worth it.
Today's car you may not know about:
The Chevy Cruze Eco. Chevy deleted the spare tire, thinned the sheet metal to save weight, adding low rolling resistance tires, lighter wheels, smaller gas tank, grill shutters, underbody panels, and a manual transmission with 3 overdrive
I’ve owned this car since April and it’s finally legal. Took a few minutes tonight to mount the plate with rivnuts and stainless 1/4-20 hardware instead of screws into the plastic from the factory.
Small projects are nice.
Anybody wanna pay thousands of dollars to hang out in 40 degree weather in the worst place on earth to watch a practice session on a Wednesday night? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you I'm leaving Hoonigan. I figured since everyone else is making this announcement, I might as well do one, too.
Car enthusiasts for 30 years: "MAKE IT FASTER AT THE TRACK!"
Car enthusiasts now: "They made the 911 Dakar and Huracan Sterrato are good because they aren't as stiff and have more tire."
You ruined sports cars so that you could ruin sports cars in order to make them good again?
We’re selling our house! If you want to live in Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood and need a 4 bed 2.5 bath 2145sqft home, this is the one. $475,000 obo, will trade for 997 GT3 RS 4.0 or similar.
This is proof for a theory I've held for a while.
E-mail is broken. Just like phone calls, e-mails were once for important messages from people you wanted to speak with. They've become inundated with unnecessary messages and spam, they're no longer viable communication tools.
Still thinking about how a dealer tried to bait and switch me by saying they were offering a 0.9% APR, and when the paperwork came out it was an 8% loan.
Just did a four-wheel ABS stop from 70 mph because a car on the other side of the highway lost its tire and it bounced right in front of my car. I think I’ll change my pants now.
So proud of Allie and Ian for winning a Class Award at

with the Autech Zagato after driving it 850 miles to the event. Two lessons: 1. Young people do love fun cars. 2. Show cars can and should be driven.
