A good friend shared this with me. It’s the truth. The last high school football game is always different. Kids play basketball again. They play golf or baseball. They wrestle around. They run and race. They never put a helmet and shoulder pads on again once it’s over.

Our season ends at 6-4 with losses to teams that are a combined 34-6. Aurora is 10-0 in quarterfinals. A-G is 9-1 in quarterfinals. Adams Central is 8-2 in quarterfinals. Roncalli finished 7-3 with a loss to Lincoln Christian (8-2) in opening round. A team we beat 21-7.

Jim Jenson was a phenomenal man. Our program is proud to recognize his service in Vietnam, his fight against pancreatic cancer (purple ribbon), and his devotion to his community and family. These memorial helmet stickers will serve as a small tribute to a larger than life man.

Tonight was a special night at Salberg Field. The JV team won a double overtime game 19-16 to close out their season. They finished 8-1 on the year. It was a fantastic game, and a fitting tribute to Coach Salberg. There was some magic in the air, for sure.

Our program is fortunate to have a senior class of 23 players willing to do whatever they can to help the team. We have 10-12 that don't start and probably won't ever have their name in the paper. They play their tails off on special teams and scout team. They make us better.

Leo wins 2-0. That puts 8 Trojans in Omaha next weekend. On a side note, something this coach noticed is that Anthony Scala did not qualify, but he was in the corner for every one of our kids in the blood round cheering hard. I want that kid on my team every time.
