Associate Professor at Yale University, study prostate cancer, fan of 3D printing, photography, soccer and action figure. Dad of two corgi. Views are my own.
I did nothing but cheerleading; all credit goes to our fantastic postdoc, Dr. Yaru Xu,
@Yaru00473993
and the other incredible coauthors. We are super grateful to
@ElizSMcKenna
for leading the way with the review process and to the reviewers for their amazing support.
Our work on Nature Cancer today: Ectopic activation of JAK-STAT is the crucial executor of lineage plasticity. It is specifically required for stem-like and multi-lineage cancer cells, but NOT neuroendocrine-like cells.

Just got tenured and feeling a surprising calm now. Immense thanks to all my lab people, collaborators, colleagues, mentors and friends who carried me cross the line. Now, back to my 80-page response-to-reviewers letter and the pile of R01 reviews due today.
Super excited to share that weโve moved to Yale Universityโs Department of Urology to continue our prostate cancer research. Already loving the Yale community and looking forward to some awesome collaborations ahead.

My new postdoc just spent an hour teaching me about T cells. What could be better than gaining so much knowledge from a young colleague and trainee? ๐
Ever wondered about the E2 enzyme driving AR ubiquitination and degradation? We've found it! "UBE2J1 is the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme regulating androgen receptor degradation and antiandrogen resistance".

My 5-year-old asked me if we can make an Olaf after watching Frozen II. OK, here you go. The best part of being parents is having the chance to fulfill someoneโs dream. Donโt remember my dream as a 5-year-old boy gre up in a small town in northwestern China.
My first student, Choushi, just got his PhD! So proud yet sad to see him go. We celebrated with a cake featuring his top achievement: all the memes he presented in lab meetings. My pre-defense speech took revenge for his "dedication" in my earlier tweet.
Farewell to our incredible student, Choushi, as he continues his scientific journey as a postdoc in the lab of the legend
#ToddGolub
. In honor of Choushiโs famous quote, 'Brad Pitt is PERFECT,' we've prepared some heartfelt goodbye gifts.
Today, our summer SURF intern, a prodigy finishing a 4-year U. Wisconsin BS degree in 2 years, ends her course. She wrote code, solved key exp issues, and contributed 7-8 major panels to our revision paper. A great grad school catch this fall!
I am saddened that this remarkable comic book-style cover was not selected, but I do not want it to remain hidden: "Braking Bad: How Loss of SYNCRIP Drives Cancer's Mutational Chaos and Resistance", read the paper on Cancer Cell:
A two weeks biology experiment: we got this little one unexpected from a plant we bought, and now she is a beautiful butterfly! My 5 year boy is so amazed and started to read insect books I bought.... yes thatโs the plan

I am truly honored to receive this award from SAU, a society comprising many pioneering scientists I have long admired. However, I am neither a star nor rising. The real stars are my extraordinary trainees and our Philip espresso machine, tirelessly working behind the scenes.

Zoom is so much better when coming to visual lab meeting. We will still keep our lab meetings this way but with journal club, grant/paper writing workshop, project brain storm and lab comedy show et al. ๐คฃ Keep as a team and we will all go over this together.
