Google offers a simple way to find account holders and user names on twitter. Just search for intitle:name site: -inurl:search -inurl:hashtag -inurl:status - of course "name" should be the target's user name, real or company name. There is no space after -

OSINT tool developers, please remember that most end users are not developers, not techies, just ordinary people doing detective work online. They aren’t gonna want to faff around compiling scripts and running python for stuff downloaded from GitHub. TLDR? Build a web interface!!

You can bring back some of Google Image's lost functions by adding codes into the search result web address. To search for faces add &tbs=itp:face To search for animation add &tbs=itp:animated To add a date range add (for example) &tbs=cdr:1,cd_min:1/14/2010,cd_max:6/25/2011

Sitting through an hour of #isspyaarkokyanaamdoon with no subtitles. Okay 95% of that hour is adverts for travel agents in Southall and dramatic closeups with no dialogue, but please @StarPlus sort it out! We can’t all speak Hindi.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason most of the time. It erodes confidence, in the end. You can’t get emotionally attached if you think they are gonna kill it any day cos of the trps

Latest draft of possible @Facebook Graph combination searches - e.g. people who live in Rome & like pizza, pilots that work for Lufthansa. These searches use keywords rather than FB ID codes. Religious & political views not included as they can't be combined in a search.

I just realised I’ve been training OSINT for 20 years! Over that time the biggest challenges have been 1)finding information 2)verifying it 3)protecting stories & sources. The research landscape keeps changing. New opportunities & new problems, but always exciting new solutions.

@Shayan86 I once had a guy at a journalism conference tell me that 911 was a false flag op set up by the West. I told him I had some secret intel about it and pulled him into a corner. After nervously looking around, I whispered in his ear “Elvis did it”. Sometimes only ridicule will do.

It strikes me that successful #OSINT is a combination of tools, genius, help & luck. By “genius” I mean the inspiration you have along the way. Other people’s genius can help you. Luck is a minor factor. Genius creates much of the luck. Without the tools & help, genius is stuck.

@trbrtc @EliotHiggins OSINT adapts and changes. The battle moves elsewhere. Facebook used to mean everything. Hell, USENET used to mean something! I’m already thinking of Twitter in the past tense. The stories we need to look at will be elsewhere, as he slowly, blithely breaks the platform he bought.
