Outdoor education centres help young people's mental health, confidence and learning, but many are on the brink of collapse partly because of the Government's ban on schools running residential trips. Glad that today the Health Secretary agreed to my request to review that ban.

Not many UK outdoor learning centres still do overnight expeditions with young people (outside of DofE). These 12 and 13 year olds are having a super time and really challenging themselves. They’ll remember it for the rest of their lives.

Amazingly, since May 17th we have worked with almost 1000 students giving them a valuable residential outdoor learning experience. 3000 facilitated activities days, over 5000 meals served. Today marks the end of term for us and the start of the summer holiday courses we offer.

Over the years since @BoltonSchool purchased Patterdale Hall, dozens of volunteers and hundreds of students have helped develop it into what it is today, the most amazing ‘all singing all dancing’ outdoor centre. It’s a gorgeous place work. #saveoutdoored

Had a lovely meeting with Steve T from @UllswaterCentre from @OutwardBoundUK cementing great neighbourly support between our two operations and @BoltonSchool @BS_PHCurriculum took our daily exercise together over Keldas. Fixed a gate, checked the boundaries!
