My latest article for

on why Vivek Ramaswamy and others have the right idea criticizing the Fed, but their proposed solution differs from current policy only in degree and is ultimately another failed progressive idea from the past.
There is a man who happens to be an expert on both Japan and diversity having written books on both subjects. Perhaps you've heard of him, Dinesh? Maybe you can cite his work by name this time.
Many libertarians seem reluctant to acknowledge the unholy alliance between private business and the state, but they shouldn't be. Rothbard was well aware of this for half a century and rightfully ridiculed Rand's claim that big business were the "most persecuted minority."
In the not-too-distant past, the idea of young boys being raised as girls was considered so potentially traumatizing that it was used in several horror films to explain why a character became a serial killer.
As Hans-Hermann Hoppe has pointed out, libertarian political theory does not tell us much about how to achieve a libertarian order from a decidedly unlibertarian starting point. It tells us how private defense, covenant communities etc. could work, but not how to get there.
Ben Shapiro spent a decade trying to convince people Ron Paul and Pat Buchanan were some sort of "racists" or anti-Semites. The last thing he's concerned about is your freedom. Don't give him or his organization a dime.
As Rothbard pointed out, Lew Rockwell founded the Mises Institute at a low point in Misean economics without any endowment or large pledges of support. With the Mises Institute thriving almost 40 years later, it's worth recognizing what a remarkable achievement this is.
"Unless you have been frequently attacked to be a sexist, a homophobe, a racist or something like that then you should ask yourself if there's something wrong with you." - Hans-Hermann Hoppe
"Racist" is a nothing more than a term of abuse used solely against whites. If your criticism of a brilliant man like Hans-Hermann Hoppe is that he's a "racist" then you're simply too far below his level to discuss his work. Likewise, there are virtually no "white supremacists."
Worth both the wait and every penny. Do yourselves a favor and profit from more than half a century of research in the archives courtesy of Mr. Irving.
@Irving
Seeing the anti-Lew Rockwell libertarians always reinforces my belief that Lew is a great man. Question: How many of Lew's haters have built anything that's lasted anywhere near 40 years?
Those are hardly controversial, much less "banned." A Book can reasonably be called banned when leftists have gotten it removed from Amazon. These are just a few such books. Needless to say, leftists have gone further and some of the publishers can't even process credit cards.
Good afternoon, Lew Rockwell is still far more accomplished than any of his haters. For example, the Mises Institute is thriving 40 years after Lew founded this indispensable organization at a low point in Misesian economics without any endowment or large pledges of support.
I've noticed that the old paleoconservatives from the 90s speak about Murray Rothbard much more positively than Official Libertarians. While the paleos almost universally praise Rothbard, Official Libertarians try to tear him down with petty left-wing attacks.
@VDAREJamesK
As Hoppe pointed out, the possibility of a bad king is not precluded, but it is not nearly as assured as under democracy, which selects for bad rulers. The king's actions are also more likely to be viewed with suspicion without the illusion that he represents "the people."
This is still the most important book I've ever read and my first copy wasn't hardcover so knowing I was going to read it for a second time along with the
#HAPod
and Bob Murphy's study guide, I bought this beautiful hardcover from the Mises bookstore for the occasion.
I urge Chuck Schumer to embrace the Austrian school of economics and vote for a pro-life Constitutional Amendment. I mean, so long as we’re just asking for stuff.
On 3/27/2020, Congress tried to unconstitutionally spend $2 trillion without showing up but I made them come to work.
Nancy Pelosi called me a dangerous nuisance.
John Kerry called me an a**hole.
Donald Trump called me a 3rd rate grandstander.
Liz Cheney donated to my opponent.
Having studied the works of Ludwig von Mises, Ron Paul, while a staunch anti-Communist, understood that the Soviet Union's collapse was inevitable due to the impossibility of economic calculation under socialism. Since intervention was unnecessary, he was 100% right.
Jared Taylor has been making this point for decades. This is not the first time you've failed to credit him. Indeed, you accused Mr. Taylor and American Renaissance of rejecting the "principles of the American founding."
Japan has some of the strictest immigration laws in the world. When Tucker pointed this out he was labeled a “traitor.” I wonder if the media has the same feelings now that Kimmel says it.
Reminder: Rothbard warned about MLK-loving egalitarians in the Libertarian Movement back in 1989. A cursory glance at movement libertarianism today reveals that, sadly, few heeded his warning.
If Mises were alive today, he'd be attacked by the same left-libertarians who attack the Mises Institute and for largely the same reasons. Those left-libertarians want you to overlook the fact that the Mises Institute received support from Margit von Mises and Henry Hazlitt.
If libertarians are going to mention Charlottesville at all, they should mention that the state allowed a Communist mob to attack & disrupt a legal event with a permit as a pretext to shut it down & prevent people with no political power from expressing unpopular views.
Congratulations to
@jeffdeist
on his job with
@Monetary_Metals
and a successful decade as president of
@mises
. His work was a major reason I've been a member & he contributed to my initial interest in Austrian economics as Ron Paul's chief of staff. I wish him continued success.
In 2003, Tucker Carlson did the right thing and apologized to Pat Buchanan personally for anti-Buchanan hit pieces he had written at the Weekly Standard. Ben Shapiro, on the other hand, spent a decade viciously smearing Buchanan and Ron Paul, yet has never apologized to either.
Rising prices must be understood as an effect of inflation, not the cause. It is not by accident that the definition of words seems to frequently change, and the meaning of these words become obscured in a way that benefits the regime & its intellectual bodyguards(e.g., Keynes.)
Thanks to
@mises
for publishing my most recent article on how political centralization and fiat money reinforce each other, and how decentralization can promote sound money.
Ron Paul is a self-made man who delivered thousands of babies, got young people excited to study Austrian economics & still works regularly at 86. You're a chickenhawk & infamous product of nepotism incapable of distinguishing between opposition to a war & support for slavery.
Well, given that Ron Paul was an apologist for Jim Crow and slavery in his newsletters and then he was too much of a pussy to take responsibility for it, I’ll take it.
The "fake libertarian" thing just makes me laugh. I've been called this many times and at this point, I just ask: of all the things I could choose to fake, why would I choose to fake being a libertarian?!
@mythic_0
Terrible example because Arnold was governor at the time and obviously not focused on training. Here's Stallone from 1987 to 2009 and 2017 (age 41 to 63 and 71). Nowadays you have Mike O'Hearn who is in better shape in his 50s than he was in his 20s.

Just one example: in a hypothetical all-white New York City, shootings would drop by 97+ percent and murder would drop by 91+ percent.
Economic law defeated Communism. As Mises explained, without private ownership of the means of production there can be no prices, and therefore no means for economic calculation. Thus, there is no rational way to allocate resources. Intervention propped up communism in WW2.
VDARE deserves your support not only because this is as blatant of a state crackdown on dissidents as you'll find in the US today, but also because they've been the premier immigration site for 25 years & home to founder Peter Brimelow, Sam Francis & Steve Sailer among others.

Lew Rockwell founded the Mises Institute at a low point in Misesian economics without any endowment or large pledges of support & the Mises Institute is thriving 40 years later. You, on the other hand, got Con Inc. money & still only gave us "liberals are the REAL fascists!"
Hans-Hermann Hoppe founded Property and Freedom Society as a political correctness free-zone dedicated to uncompromising intellectual radicalism. Yet, people complain when he invites radical and politically incorrect speakers.
@kenzietuff
This guy is completely wrong. Not only was this made explicit in the 1790 Naturalization Act, but here is John Jay in Federalist No. 2:
"Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people – a people descended from the same ancestors."
"Unless you have been frequently attacked to be a sexist, a homophobe, a racist or something like that then you should ask yourself if there's something wrong with you." - Hans-Hermann Hoppe
As one of the 3 people responsible for my interest in Austro-libertarianism a decade ago thanks to his book, "Meltdown," I wish
@ThomasEWoods
a happy birthday and the best of health. "Nullification" is another personal favorite.
Beltway libertarians & neocons have been peas in a pod since the early 90s. This is only the latest example of this. I can't think of two less appealing groups. It's ironic they pay lip service to the free market since there'd be no demand for their services in a free market.
Good piece by
@CathyYoung63
. I'm glad the headline uses the term, "The Anti-Liberal Right." We (me too) sometimes call it illiberal. No: They're proudly anti-liberal. Today's New Right is closer to fascism than to traditionalism, let alone conservatism.
"Economics must not be relegated to classrooms and statistical offices and must not be left to esoteric circles. It is the philosophy of human life and action and concerns everybody and everything. It is the pith of civilization and of man's human existence." - Ludwig von Mises
I post a lot of 90s Rothbard quotes because they translate better to Twitter & deserve more attention, but my favorite Rothbard books are "Man, Economy, & State + Power & Market," "America's Great Depression," "The Case Against the Fed" & "What Has Government Done to Our Money?"
Now the anti-Lew Rockwell people resort to saying he "participated" in the Ron Paul Newsletters. They just can't give up their favorite left-wing smear. Even if that vague accusation were true: Who cares?
"Libertarians and conservatives who have any spunk left must drop their blinders and call not for 'the original King equality' or the original civil rights ideal, but for throwing over the entire structure and restoring the absolute right of private property." - Murray Rothbard
Abraham Lincoln had the most outspoken opponent of the opposition party, Congressman Clement Vallandigham, arrested, jailed, and deported. Around this time, Lincoln had over 13,000 detained without trial for expressing opposition to his war.

And yet the closest this country has come to a tyrannical government is under Trump. He tried to maintain his power through force and intimidation. And now he threatens to pardon his supporters and destroy his opponents if elected. The actions of a tyrant.
The Fed's response to the '08 crash made another bust inevitable. More ominous was the Fed pouring money into the repo market for months beginning in September 2019 even *before* Covid. Now, the signs should be visible even to those not paying attention this whole time.
Whether it's leftists or Steve Bannon, many people who attack the Austrian School do so out of ignorance or malice. Their descriptions of Austrian econ reveal that they're either clueless regarding Austrian theories and methodology or they're intentionally misrepresenting them.
Keynes was contradictory & his use of technical language was misleading. By contrast, Rothbard made his language as clear as possible in his economic writings. This, I suspect, is because Keynes wasn't really an economist while Rothbard was an economist in the purest sense.
Not only was Rothbard extremely proud of Hoppe, David Gordon called Hoppe one of the "most original and important social theorists of our time," Joe Sobran became an ancap after being convinced by Hoppe & Thomas Fleming recently called Hoppe Rothbard's most brilliant protege.
Murray Rothbard warned about MLK-loving egalitarians in the libertarian movement back in 1989. Few heeded his warning & movement libertarianism is now a cautionary tale. There can be no tolerance towards Comsymps, socialists & compulsory integrationists in a libertarian movement.
When I joined the team at YAL, the first thing I put on the wall of my office was a framed copy of YAL’s poster featuring Dr. King and his quote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” He is and will always be such a noble example of true courage and leadership.
It should be clear by now that paleos, Hoppeans and their close allies are the only libertarians who can address the most urgent issues today. This was true in 1990, and it is even more evident in 2022.
@restoreorderusa
"McCarthyism is calling a man a communist who is later proven to he one." Anyone curious about this ought to read "Blacklisted by History" by M. Stanton. Primary sources from both the US & USSR archives and McCarthy's personal files prove McCarthy was both accurate & cautious
The Cville lawsuit & verdict is the biggest assault on free speech in my lifetime. Nobody actually believes the right conspired. There was, however, a conspiracy by the Communist mob, city of Cville & probably state of VA to deny the right their 1A rights by any means necessary.
Justin Raimondo truly described Reason Magazine to a T when he called them "the official organ of the libertarian movement's aging hipsters and would-be cool kids."
@VDAREJamesK
This is why Jared Taylor and American Renaissance are always the first example I give when discussing censorship. What you guys have done without Twitter/X for over 6 years, payment processors for nearly as long, and YouTube for nearly 4 years is remarkable and much appreciated.
A new Hoppe book was such a welcome surprise earlier this month, it reminded me why it's good to be a member of

I am convinced this man was the greatest American of the 20th century and it's tragic that he isn't widely acknowledged and celebrated as such.
@PeterRQuinones
100% accurate. The Alt-Right as a movement imploded in 2018. That's why I only speak about the AR in the past tense. The only people who use the term in the present tense are leftists who have tried to expand the definition and make it into a smear term.
Beltway libertarianism has long celebrated "sexual diversity" (their term) yet they've been hostile to intellectual diversity. Is it any wonder a scholar like Rothbard found this environment intolerable?
The good libertarians have lost the branding war to the left/Beltway libertarians. Most think of the latter when they hear the term. At minimum, the paleo prefix is even more necessary now than ever, as is a split similar to the one Rothbard made with Official Libertarianism.
This tweet is a perfect example of why I'm happy to now be a supporting listener of the Tom Woods Show. If anyone has earned your support during this nightmarish year, it's Tom.
I've continued to renew my
@mises
membership because as Mises said, economics concerns everybody everything & no economic institution can compare. These have all been published since 2021. (I had lamented that many had not read Hoppe's TGF, but the new edition can remedy this.)
@ScottMGreer
"The civilization that we as whites created in Europe and America could not have developed apart from the genetic endowments of the creating people, nor is there any reason to believe that the civilization can be successfully transmitted to a different people." - Sam Francis
Mises frequently wrote that it was precisely the job of economists to explain the long term consequences. We know that politicians, particularly democratic politicians, have an incentive to pursue their short term interests at the expense of these long term consequences.
The way Sam Harris spoke about rule by experts revealed his total commitment to the managerial elite and public administration liberalism. Intellectuals are especially prone to this as they find little demand for their services in the free market outside of such a system.
With the exception of the very young people interested in Hans-Hermann Hoppe, I've consistently found that the post-Ron Paul libertarians who were too young to support Dr. Paul at the time are truly awful.
The most serious treatment of anti-Semitism is "Separation and its Discontents by Kevin MacDonald." Instead of simply irrational hatred, it is best understood as a natural reaction to cooperation among Jews in competition with gentiles and an explicit double standard of morality.
@scotthortonshow
Churchill himself admitted that they bombed Dresden(and other German cities) "simply for the sake of increasing the terror, though under other pretexts" and these were "mere acts of terror and wanton destruction." Yet, there's no shortage of people willing to defend this.
A leftist who was unhappy about Glenn Greenwald speaking at a Mises Institute event tried to link Mises to the Kochs. Anyone who knows the history knows this is false. As David Gordon pointed out, "the Kochtopus strongly opposes the Mises Institute."
@VDAREJamesK
David Irving was one of the few historians who understood this early on. It should be obvious that the unnecessary wars lost them their empire and status as a world power. Now, they no longer even have their nations. Moreover, Poland was lost for half a century anyway.
@ScottMGreer
It is precisely because of the GOP and conservatism that Judd Blevins is not permitted to have a future in the party while youthful affiliations with communism or the NOI aren't held against Democrats. And as
@VDAREJamesK
notes, IE was known as moderate by much of the Alt-Right.
Imagine whining about nine 30-year-old newsletters. If you're going to do this, at least make sure you've written something as good. So far, nobody who complains about them has. I have zero problems with the newsletters, but it's well known that Dr. Paul didn't even write them.
Much like 2008, it will be more important than ever to explain the Austrian Business Cycle Theory in a way that laymen such as myself can grasp. Fortunately, this can be done quite successfully, as Tom Woods proved with his book "Meltdown."
@VDAREJamesK
"Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people – a people descended from the same ancestors." - John Jay in Federalist No. 2
Social ostracism and discrimination are of vital importance to any healthy society. They provide a means for dealing with destructive behavior that isn't necessarily criminal. Without ostracism as a means to deal with this behavior, more will turn to the state to enforce norms.
"Unlike the Union generals, General Lee forbade attacks against the 'unarmed and defenseless' or the destruction of private property. The Union soldiers he fought respected him and his army." - Gregory Hood
McCarthy's accusations weren't "often false and evidence-free." Between Venona, Soviet, and FBI archives, many of McCarthy's cases have been corroborated. We now know there were at least hundreds of communists in the State Department, OSS, and elsewhere in the federal government.
@lospilares11
The difference between people who were found guilty after full trials and those who had their lies destroyed based solely on McCarthy's often false and evidence-free accusations is too obvious to have to explain.
Beltway libertarians sure make their priorities clear. They never miss an opportunity to advocate for open borders, libertinism or tell you why you must accept something else undesirable. Yet, they *never* mention The Fed. They really are the anti-Ron Paul, which explains a lot.
With the consequences of the Fed's actions becoming increasingly obvious to the public, it is more important than ever to understand precisely how money & banking actually work.
@BobMurphyEcon

Very sorry to hear this. Reading his long-awaited "True Himmler" book, it still jumped out just how dedicated he is to explaining his subject and conveying the historical record and archives as accurately as possible. There's no living historian like him.
Last October, after arriving in Florida, David Irving fell ill and has been in declining health ever since. He is now back in the UK and requires round-the-clock care, a demand we’ve had to arrange privately due to constraints with NHS services. He was hospitalised for nearly two
One subject I'm going to read a lot more on this year is the Southern Conservative tradition. It's worth noting that Southerners have been among the genuine conservatives in that they've aimed to conserve traditions and their own unique way of life.
