I mean, that's the origin for Mario. Plumber from Brooklyn who got warped into the mushroom kingdom when working on some pipes in the sewers (hence warp pipes).
This was the case in the old comics, cartoons, books, the live action movie, Nintendo Power, instruction booklets, ect
Xenoblade 2's start screen changes dynamically based on your save file and where you are in the story.
When you start a new game for the first time, the start screen is a stormy sky and when you press "start" it zooms into the sky dynamically & smoothly into the intro cutscene.
@GenePark
What's extra funny is that this same exact scene could have been 100 times more digestible for newcomers if it was just Reeve watching from an office and slamming his fist in frustration.
Same exact meaning in the end, but without new players being confused, lmao.
@HenriqueJos12
@iuntue
JRPGs have had black and dark skinned characters for several decades now. It is in no way out of place or "extremely different from a JRPG".
@JRPGGaming
It's crazier when you also consider that many of these tracks are actually dynamic, with parts of songs only playing under certain gameplay conditions. 1 track in Xenoblade could be 2 to 3 tracks by the standards of a lesser OST.
@JimSterling
This is a surprisingly ironic consumerist accusation from you.
There is an implication here that games are just content to be consumed, a one and done deal. Are people who replay their favorite games or levels liars too? They are "back tracking" through things they did once.
@GenePark
The moment is the closest thing video games has to the Star Wars "I am your father" moment.
It transcended the typical boundaries and has become common cultural knowledge- people who have never touched an RPG or even a video game have at least heard of it.
@SuperSavajin
FR is coded in a spaghetti code way that relies a ton on existing code in the base game. It causes every single update that adds new content to the base game to basically redownload a new version of Future Redeemed that is compatible with the new code added to the base game.
@HatokTalk
It's really the combination of the following that leads to bloated production times in most cases:
1. push for ultra detailed graphics
2. reinventing the wheel instead of iterating with sequels
3. loss of institutional knowledge and tools due to frequent layoffs and closures.
@JRPGGaming
Like the beloved Moebius battle music. Listed on the soundtrack only once. But there is actually like 3 songs in there.
The base version, the half health/enraged version, and the Climax/low health version.
@TAHK0
More than anything else, releasing the series across so many platforms made it hard to follow.
You needed a PS2 for KH1 & 2, a GBA for Chain of Memories, a PSP for BBS, and 3DS for DDD.
The actual story if you owned all those systems and games, wasn't hard to follow.
Some interesting stuff with the new Xenoblade 3 hero. Agnian class with Agnian arts.....but also has a Keves 8s cooldown break art that's not a positional? what's going on?!
@robottsie
It's galactic brain if you see the vision. Klaus was split into two halves, one for each world.
Xenoblade 1, his dominant side is the right. Kevesi have Irises on their right.
Xenoblade 2, his dominant side is the left. Agnians have Irises on their left.
@Mondblut1984
The same Wikipedia page disproves the point you are trying to make. Kind of amazing how you selected a bit from the article without context and separated from the rest of the information to try and force your point to work.
@jtimsuggs
The crazy thing is that the Jedi aren't even portrayed as "bad" in the episode. Just as human beings with flaws who make mistakes. This lines up with what Lucas himself says about the Jedi in interviews:
@BoundaryBreak
@RGT_85
The last mainline Fire Emblem game was 3 years ago.
Xenoblade 3 is releasing next month, 5 years after Xenoblade 2. I don't think this is over feeding.
Over feeding is like what you see with
Pokemon: a new major release every year or two.
Mario: Multiple releases every year
@HenriqueJos12
@iuntue
It's not just games, older anime had black characters too. If you think otherwise, you're just a tourist who cares about spreading your side of a culture war instead of what is true.
The DLC Expansion for Xenoblade 3, Future Redeemed, is longer and has more side content than the new Spider-Man 2.
If the Cyberpunk DLC can be considered a GOTY contender (which Future Redeemed is also bigger than), then there is no reason why Future Redeemed can't also be.
@ChristinaTasty
I'm sorry, but you don't have much of a point here if you have to cherry pick the bottom 14 out of 114 reviews total. And even with your cherry picking, the worst you get is "It's a solid and enjoyable game if the sex appeal doesn't bother you."
@AdamSessler
@awildjessichu
95% of the people roasting you right now are leftists, not MAGA. You have no self awareness- you are being torn apart for poorly dated racism. Wait until people start digging through other reviews of that era. Remember the homophobic and transphobic jokes in your God Hand review?
@impasbitch
Zora weapons get double damage to both their base damage and whatever you fuse to it whenever Link is wet.
Sidon can make you wet on demand. Even after the water bubble is gone, Link stays wet for like 30 seconds after. It's one of the most OP combat combinations in the game.
@COG0103
@SkillUpYT
Even Todd Howard described the planets as "barren" and "desolate" on stage. I wouldn't get your hopes up. The draw distance is far, and all you could see was rocks and hills in a lot of it.
@zee_noblade
Everyone's souls and memories were converted into Core Crystals. This is also why everyone in Aionios has the blade-like ability to summon their weapons. Z, being in control of the system, is basically the Master Driver, which is why he can disable shit like Almalthus/Haze.
@JimSterling
among certain communities, what constitutes as "sexual assault" has been stretched unbelievably far. For an example of what I am talking about, look into what has been going on with the anti-shipper & the pro-shipper communities in the past several years. Shit is absolutely wild.
@HatokTalk
The sound of nature itself is an atmosphere and a tone, one that BotW and TotK is targeting.
Also, the new Zelda does have field music, it's just very subdued to allow natural sounds to have a focus. The rolling wind, the roiling of water of the river, the "Breath" of the Wild.
@mittopotahis
Last Week: Square announced they used AI for the game in an unambiguous manner
This Week: Many people are drawing conclusions and making assumptions in a way that is often coming across as fanboy defensiveness because their favorite brand was parodied in a successful way.
@faygoshill
It's almost like the mask is symbolic for the front he puts up. All of his breakdowns and emotional instability happens when the mask is off, and after his big breakdown, the mask is never put back on.
@HenriqueJos12
@iuntue
You are falling for a grift. ESG investing has existed since the 60s. "Diversity" is a tiny, tiny part of it (many ESG measures don't even care about it) and only relates to diversity in the workplace, not diversity in products.
@oliver_drk
This is correct. As someone who believes the PC experience is much better than what the PS5 currently offers, anyone who says you can get a PC of similar or greater power for a comparable price is incorrect. With PCyou are also paying a premium for a better experience.
@geoffkeighley
Xenoblade 3 was absolutely robbed for best music, and it makes me wonder if there should be a requirement for the jury to be well versed in all the games nominated.
Other than that, it was one of your best yet. Good pacing and balance of presenting vs reveals throughout.
@Kanoodlezoodle
@YaBoiRio
When you run out of HP, that character isn't dead, they are just KO'd.
Phoenix Down doesn't revive the dead or even heal all injuries. It just cures "KO". That's why when it is used, it only brings you back with like 10% HP.
@zee_noblade
What did he mean by this? What makes Noah and Mio immune to homecoming? Whatever it is, is probably why Noah/Mio are reborn into the cycle even though N & M exist as Moebius.
@AdamSessler
If this was true, you could have just not commented on it at all to begin with instead of QRT it to double down on it and die on the hill defending it.
Is it really hard for you to acknowledge that you did something poorly or incorrectly (even if no bad intentions) in the past?
@XC_Enel
really seems like those types don't actually live by their own stated values. It's just anti-Nintendo/anti-anime sentiment dressed up as moralizing.
@XC_Enel
I'm not exaggerating at all when I say that the person you are quote retweeting ironically is displaying very little media literacy in their thread.
@ask_aubry
I understand what you are saying, although I feel like it is a dangerous line to tread to associate enjoyment of fictional content with endorsement or enjoyment of the real thing.
@alexapdos
This may be shocking, but things can have more than one tone, and just because something has moments where it is less serious and more cringe, doesn't also mean it can't have moments that are serious and emotional or otherwise awesome.
@yacobg42
The other extreme is also prominent. There is far too much antagonism towards stories and creators that people try to pass off as criticism and thoughtful critique, when in reality it is often borderline (if not outright) harassment.
@KeyToAeris
People hate it for 2 reasons.
1. They don't understand how the combat works and instead of learning it's depths, they just say it is clunky and slow.
2. They can't see past the booba/outfits certain characters have and let that negatively color their entire perception of XC2.
@ContraPoints
If I may propose a concept that the world isn't ready for: People aren't actually attracted to specific genders, Cis or otherwise. People are attracted to traits other people have, whether they be physical traits or personality traits or even status traits.
@JakeSucky
Games are in a great spot right now, despite some companies tossing out very formulaic or GaaS titles.
The amount of high quality games in the past 5 years with loads of passion put into them is massive. Look at the list here, this isn't even including dozens of smaller indies:
@YongYea
Hellena has said herself in interviews that Bayonetta games are completed in only 4 sessions. The $4000 she was offered was union rate.
Link to the interview in question:
The particular question can be found at 7 minutes and 39 seconds in.
@zee_noblade
Z points out when recruiting N that there is something weird and unusual about him and Mio that even he doesn't understand.
I'm sure it is something that will be revealed in the DLC.
@JimSterling
Like this accusation is wild. Everyone enjoying this aspect of the game is a liar. Hardcore fans who replay other games 20+ times? Liars according to you.
It's one thing to not like it. It's even valid to think it is bad- I'd disagree, but it is valid.
@GenePark
Yep! I've been thinking this since I've first played Remake, lol.
I really don't understand the choice to have Cait Sith do this instead of Reeve himself. If you ever interview the devs about Remake, you gotta ask them why they went with Cait Sith instead of Reeve for the scene.
@TAHK0
yeah, currently it is no longer an issue. But I think the series being in that situation for over a decade set the reputation and it can't seem to escape that reputation.
@XC_Enel
My dude, this is Jason Schreirer, the guy who made Kotaku into what it is today. He is also infamous for thinking Sorceress from Dragon's Crown was a "lolicon fantasy". Which the lead artist of the game famously dunked on him for.
@gunstargum
I know this may come as a shock, but game devs generally don't design their game around a tiny ultra hardcore 0.1% of their audience that plays the game at the highest possible level.
@A_Spooky_Lad
Take a look at all of the people QRTing you and responding in this thread. You claimed it's a game for Straight People. Now tell me- Where are they? Where are the straight people at? All I see is a bunch of LGBT people upset that you told them something they love isn't for them.
@Awesauce1YT
@TheNCSmaster
@thegameawards
No way it will realistically get the GOTY award, of course.
It deserves it though, or at least a shot at it. Best Music for Xenoblade 3 should be no contest, best RPG it barely has competition, and for best story- the only thing that might compete is GOW.
@BabyRuthless94
@theoceanblooms
@maryswraith
Behind the picture the lawyers paint, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp are both real people. The decisions made regarding them, and what they did or did not do have real effects and consequences.
A fictional character is fictional. They are not real. There are no irl consequences.
@XC_Enel
It's funny how the game with 2 hours of sex scenes is praised, including sex with a bear, or threesomes, or 4somes, there is even a 5some option.
But the game with a furby horny for a robot is a step too far. The silly photo is disgusting and carries "problematic implications".
@ActualAero
I would like an additional option besides simply on/off. I would like an "overkill only" option, where the battle music remains normal until you hit overkill, THEN the chain attack music starts.
@Blun_Z
I hope this serves as a reminder of how quickly & easily misinfo spreads. 4 years from now when we get a new Xenoblade, people will complain about "cut content" or a "change of direction" if it doesn't have combat like FF7R or Tales, citing this interview that doesn't even exist.
@XC_Enel
The dude can't even authentically see his own xenophobia even after it was pointed out to him directly. Exactly the type of thing Yoshida was talking about, no matter how hard he tries to reframe it.
