Julian and I were married in Lichfield 38 years ago today ❤️❤️❤️ Here we are celebrating afterwards at the Benedictine Priory ruins in Alvecote near Tamworth.
❤️❤️❤️
40 years ago, I drove from NYC to Albany to see the Teardrop Explodes and met the love of my life. 40 YEARS!!!
Here’s Julian and me at our Big Fat Greek Wedding (which was the second time we were wed; there have been three times and there will likely/hopefully be more). ❤️❤️❤️
I just witnessed a young man who works at a garage being verbally abused by a racist customer. I tried to think of a polite way to put the middle-aged white male racist in his place, but sadly couldn't think of anything. So I told him not to be such a fucking cunt.
Suicide opening for The Cars at the Boston Garden, 1980.
The Cars' hometown audience does not appreciate the greatness of Suicide. Alan Vega is not intimidated.
The Supremes skipping through the streets of Paris, asking the big question: Where Did Our Love Go ❤️❤️❤️
Rare promo film from 1965. The scene with the angry gendarme at the end was genuine (they filmed without receiving the required permission)
Sly & the Family Stone live in all their inventive glory on Say Brother TV show (1969?). A bunch of kids start dancing as the credits roll... oh man, this whole clip is absolutely euphoric. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I haven't seen my timeline united like this for a very long time in the sharing of emotions, love, respect and gratitude for one of our finest. RIP Terry Hall.
Thank fuck for music, right? (Pt 2)
Julian totally blew my mind this morning with a song I'd never heard before. I honestly don't know how I missed it because it couldn't be more my thing 😳 But I'm here now and it was Big Big Love at first listen.
The Saints – Know Your Product
Steve Marriott checked out 29 years ago today.
No words for how much I love him.
1960s pop perfection from The Small Faces – Tin Solder
(which would get my vote for best single ever).
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Black Sabbath - Paranoid Top of the Pops 1970.
I love this. The audience dances along happily as if the very fabric of RnR is not changing right in front of them. 0:48-0:58 is particularly good.
Well I’ve been feeling pretty fucked up lately. But today Julian and I ate lunch in our back garden (hot jacket potatoes wrapped in foil), watched birds and talked about No Wave. It was very good. Sending love to all. Xxx
One of those albums that you’ve played hundreds and hundreds of times and then somehow years go by without hearing it until you randomly decide to play it and you're utterly blown away and Fall In Love All Over Again.
Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Julian. I've had the pleasure of celebrating his birthdays with him for the past 39 years (😮) and today's was a good one! Love to all and we hope you're keeping safe and sane. ❤️❤️❤️
Julian just reminded me that today - 15 November – is the 45th anniversary of the formation of the Teardrop Explodes, as well as exactly 41 years since they split.
This isn't on YouTube – it appears to be, but I promise you it isn't the original. This is the original. And it's one of the best things I've ever seen. EVER. The Stones on Frost on Sunday 1968 performing Sympathy for the Devil. Mick is unreal
We were driving back home from Glasgow two years ago today when we heard the tragic news about Andrew Weatherall. What a loss to all of us.💔 Here's Julian with the Guv'nor
This has just brought the biggest smile to my face and comfort to my heart ❤️
The Beatles – All My Loving (LIVE! – Morecambe & Wise show. Those Paul & George harmonies at 1:18 = 💯❤️😍 )
The 13th Floor Elevators - You're Gonna Miss Me. The quality of the vid isn't the greatest, but that just adds to their incredible mystery and mythology IMHO
The Electric Prunes – I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night.
First released in 1966 but – as the opening track of Lenny Kaye's Nuggets – found a whole new audience, me included 🙏❤️🙏
I might be married to him, but I am and always have been a Super Fan of his. Friar Tuck is poignant, provocative & playful. And a catchy bastard. There's no one like him ❤️❤️❤️
My incredible & still-beautiful mother is 94 today (here we are in 1962). She was a librarian & gave me my love of books – including the H. Davies’ Beatles bio in ’68, which sent me down another path. She is in NY & I haven’t seen her for over a year now. I’m missing her horribly
Julian and I met 38 years ago when the Teardrop Explodes played at JB Scotts in Albany, New York. We celebrated our anniversary exploring the beautiful Somerset Levels. Despite these difficult & uncertain times, I'm so happy I ended up in this country. ❤️
And speaking of Black Sabbath, I’d completely forgotten until Julian reminded me this morning that Tony Iommi was in Jethro Tull for 2 weeks in 1968 – just in time for their appearance at the Rolling Stones RnR Circus. Here they are – Song for Jeffrey
Boris Johnson, under genuine pressure to resign, is bumped from headlines by the Prince Andrew civil sex assault case. That's some uniquely British fucked up shit.
Sly and the Family Stone - Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin (Dick Cavett Show, 1970) 🔥🔥🔥
Sly was apparently ill, and still he slays the live vocals. No one like them ever and never will there ever be.
The whole funking thing is here:
