Iā€™ve been on the C team, freshman team, sophomore team, JV, Varsity, Juco, D2, D1, Pro. Iā€™ve been the starter, bench player, superstar, DNP, you name it and Iā€™ve been it. The biggest key is always believing in yourself. No matter the situation. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

Basketball is not Football. Speed doesnā€™t kill. Pace does. The best PGā€™s Iā€™ve played with and against played methodically and didnā€™t rush to get to their spots. Then they hit the gas after you fall asleep. Bam. Over. 99% are playing too fast. SLOW DOWN

Off-season is the only time you as a player get to be selfish. You want to be the star player taking 20 shots a game? Get your butt in the gym and get better. You want your coach to play you 30+ mins a game? Get your butt in the gym and get better.

@CoachHackGO Shell is the single most important drill in basketball. Every practice should have 5-10 mins of a good shell. Itā€™s like eating your vegetables. Without it, the kids have no idea where to be on the floor.

In Mexicoā€™s @cibacopamx league. I was captain of @caballeroscln . I was very proud of this team, and the people of the city. Unfortunately injuries prevented me from finishing the season. Many lessons learned, and wonderful relationships continue! šŸ¤šŸ’ššŸ€šŸ†

Poison for High School teams: šŸ“ŒPlayer that want their position teammates to fail in order to play more. šŸ“ŒPlayer that listen to their parents over their coaches. šŸ“ŒPlayer that listen to their friends, over their teammates. šŸ“ŒPlayer that care more about ā€œcloutā€ than winning game

Today was try-outs for Tracy McGradyā€™s new AAU program. Iā€™m fortunate to be working with such a high lvl coaching staff. Whether itā€™s 1990, 2010, or 2024, the demands of basketball are the same. 1. Donā€™t talk when a coach is talking šŸ¤ 2. Donā€™t make the same mistake twicešŸ§

Letā€™s stop swearing at basketball games when you are sitting in the stands. Letā€™s stop smelling like weed when you are around kids. Letā€™s stop yelling at your kid to shoot the ball during a game. Letā€™s stop trying to get your coachā€™s son/daughter fired. Letā€™s start acting

@coach_cellars Some kids will never go JUCO regardless, so not a big deal man. As a former Juco player, itā€™s not for everyone. Thatā€™s putting it lightly.

Attend local AAU tournaments. Go watch your high school kids play in the summer. Connect with their AAU coaches and starting forming more relationships. This is basic high school coaching 101.

@3SeedTraining Nah I disagree my man. All you need is the main varsity guys there daily. They determine the quality of play by their leadership. And your head coach sitting there observing. If the players are goofing around, coach will just shut it down and itā€™ll end immediately. But that

ā€œDo your jobā€ What does this mean? If you a big man with a low skill set. Your job is to set good screens, rebound everything and run the floor. You donā€™t need to be posting up like Joel Embid. Thatā€™s not your job. The other things are. If you are a 2/3 and you are not

A big part of my job is talking with kids. The most used phrase I use is ā€œTighten Upā€. What does that means? It means you are thinking about too many things and not thinking about the RIGHT things. Contā€¦

@17u_black @UOrangemen You are the Pg. The quarterback of the team. You donā€™t need plays run for you. Get the outlet, push the ball and score. End of the shot clock or when the play breaks down, you get to go 1 on 1 and force shots with the freedom to do that. Push the envelope a little!

When Iā€™m looking to substituteā€¦ Iā€™m seeing whoā€™s making the same mistakes over and over again? SUB. Whoā€™s not making mistakes, but also not making a mark on the game? SUB. Whoā€™s making their mark on the game? They are staying in. At some point you must be aggressive
