The most underrated and most hated episode of Re:Zero. It's probably the best filter episode in an anime that made a lot of people drop the series.
Also, it's funny that if they were to watch just 2 more episodes, they would get to the best anime episode of all time.
This is one of the worst takes I've seen for Re:Zero on the entire internet. Calling something 100% canon, where every little piece of information and dialogue is so important to the plot, worldbuilding, and characters, 'filler' is beyond stupid.
Most people I saw who don't like Re:Zero were constantly on their phone or watching at 2-4x speed. Imagine not paying attention and not watching at normal speed a series that has god-tier directing, soundtracks, voice acting, and tons of subtext and details.
The actual reason he didn't like the episode is that it takes 90 minutes for action. Just make them battle in the first 15 minutes of Season 3! Because I'm a shounentard who only cares about random, meaningless, rushed action with no background.
Artists logic is generally so stupid that it looks funny to us whenever they try to comment on media literature.
Debunking this guy's horrible takes and logic.

Cons:
- There isn`t an end-game in sight what-so-ever. We're 50 episodes in & what are we doing here? I`d like to see some climactic battles with the *actual* villains already.
- 50% of the time I *despise* the main character. His decisions & constant whining are horrible...

In the manga, haven't you been waiting for Vegapunk to reveal something everyone already knows for 50 chapters? This arc is really dragged out. One Piece fans keep being the most delusional fanbase.
@lol2fast_
This is not just an Arc 5 setup episode, but it also sets up Arcs 6, 7, and 8. Not to mention, this is the last episode before the non-stop events of the upcoming arcs. It's the only window for breathing.
You are not watching One Piece, or any battle shounen in general. Subaru didn't have a purpose before coming to this world. Then he found a purpose: making Emilia the ruler, as explained in Arcs 3 and 4. If you don't have a dream, then you share a dream. Simple.
IGN has a really solid list for best anime of the year. My personal top 10 shows of this year:
10. Kaguya-sama
9. The Promised Neverland
8. Carole & Tuesday
7. Vinland Saga
6. Astra
5. Shield Hero
4. Domestic Girlfriend
3. Dr. Stone
2. Fruits Basket
1. Demon Slayer
4- Subaru being an isekai character is also the core mystery aspect of the series. How Satella transported him, why Satella loves him, how she knows him – a witch sealed 400 years ago knows Subaru and transports him to this world.
I can go on and on about why isekai is so important in every aspect of Re:Zero.
As i previously mentioned these two episodes wouldn't exist if Re:Zero weren't an isekai.
End of Thread.
I don't know what you mean by 'actual villains,' but the antagonists in Re:Zero are amazingly written and terrifying. You saw the battles with Elsa and Betelgeuse, and you saw the chess match against Roswaal. You caught glimpses of Pandora, Regulus, and others in these seasons.
Me too, except there is a huge difference. This is not META; we are not in a game, and we are not breaking any immersion since this world is real. These characters are real, not video game characters, as Subaru stops making these comments after learning this perfectly.
@OtakuEspiritu
Reasons Why Re:Zero Is Not Rated 9+
1- Fanbase tends to be more critical of their own series compared to other fanbases (cough WCT cough).
2- Series has achieved an 8.8+ rating multiple times but got mass downvoting.
I believe it will reach a 9+ rating with the hype from Season 3
Another Subaru L take, which is classic. People call Subaru a crying, whining character, meanwhile he is the most successful person in the Re
world. He fought actual MONSTERS and won despite being a weak teenager with no experience. His accomplishments are recognized by the world
Most things are manipulated by Roswaal and Echidna too. Anyway, Subaru's actions are executed with multiple layers of psychology and good writing. If anyone has a problem with this, they should stick to shounens.
This guy wants an MC like Frieren in a dark fantasy setting akin to Re:Zero but can't admit it. He despises Subaru and prefers an OP MC who kills the Whale and other things. He completely ignores the entire psychological writing and philosophy behind the story and characters.
People who call Re:Zero should be not an isekai and insist it should be a classic fantasy should not be taken seriously.
If anyone makes this comment on the internet, you should not take that person seriously. The entire story structure of Re:Zero comes from being ISEKAI!
If anyone is complaining about Subaru, for example, in the first episode saying, 'Where are my magic and unique powers after I got transported here?' you really lack media literacy. Later, you learn this is a real world, not a video game world, why i am even explaining.
1- Subaru, being Isekai'ed, allows his real-world insecurities to manifest in a fantasy world. You get the whole psychological experience of how a character born in our world with the same modern problems can navigate a dark fantasy world.
2- It allows for a lot of character development. Episodes like 'Parent & Child' (Season 2 Episode 4) and another beloved one (Season 1 Episode 18) wouldn't have happened if Subaru wasn't an isekai character.
@Ki_s__ama
People who think Mushoku is as good as Re:Zero are those who don't even understand 10% of Re:Zero. Mushoku Tensei's writing and complexity are like a kindergarten project compared to the level of Re:Zero.
7- Subaru being an isekai character has an impact on the series' power system. Being transported and not born there makes him physically weaker than others who have a working gate since birth.
Now, I don't want to go off-topic, but I will explain to people who don't understand why Re:Zero being an isekai is so important and how Re:Zero uses the isekai concept in the fullest way.
5- Did Subaru live here before and reincarnate in his world, with Satella somehow tracking his soul or something to call him back here to fulfill a purpose? And such, if you want to theorize everything about links.
3- Subaru uses his modern world knowledge in various scenarios, such as building a wheelchair, making mayonnaise, burning Guiltylowe in Season 2 (also burning the mansion), or utilizing his knowledge of stars in future seasons, among other things.
@Chris_A_Las
I've never encountered a single person who has read both novels and claimed that MT is better. Everyone agrees that R:Z is better, and I don't understand how there can even be a debate in the first place. MT is like Harry Potter compared to Re:Zero, which is like LOTR.
@OnePieceDefend
1- It isn't the best manga.
2- It isn't the best old-gen anime.
3- The new-gen anime isn't even out yet.
4- The live action is OK at best. Garp's character assassination, yikes.
6- Both Subaru's previous world and the new world have connections in the lore and worldbuilding. Archbishops have star names from Subaru's first world, Subaru essentially means 'Pleiades,' a star constellation. There are places with a lot of similarities to Japan (Kararagi).
Do people really think that Frieren is even 1/10th as good literature as Re:Zero?
Are they really comparing a shounen manga with a single trick to a dark fantasy novel that has continued for more than 10 years?
An incredible amount of recency and high production adaptation bias.
@ColdCriti
Re:Zero? No thanks. In that show, females are portrayed as strong enough to be rulers and strong leaders.
I prefer Mushoku Tensei, where they are depicted as sex slaves.
@Kking51297902
Not only does Re:Zero have excellent worldbuilding, where you can even formulate theories from just a piece of dialogue, but also the world of Mushoku is generic and lacks anything interesting. Elements such as the Witch Cult, Sins, and others also contribute to its worldbuilding
@Heatth4
@oblivibum
Bro doesn't think Re:Zero is unique, lmao. It doesn't even have guilds, dungeons, op mc, tournaments like other isekai & shounen cliches even Frieren has it lmao.
Also Re:Zero world clears > all japanese fantasy fiction
@Soul_StormOP
@Not_Reflection
People who hate Subaru are often those who self-insert. Typically, individuals wants to hide their insecurities. However, in Re:Zero, Subaru's insecurities are fleshed out and addressed by other characters, which often leads to a significant amount of hatred towards the series.
@CidKageno_PR
@Kimats0548
Least delusional Frieren fan. How does Frieren have better worldbuilding than Re:Zero?
It's a cliché Dungeons & Dragons basic fantasy world with a demon king and villages. It's not even 1/10 as good or unique as Re:Zero's world and lore.
@ZainAliAfzal
Re:Zero has won 28 awards and inspired over 200 anime, manga, light novels, and manhwa, establishing it as a modern classic since 2010. It's considered the best-written dark fantasy in the last 15 years, losing to sports shounen lmao.
@FoulTarnished42
@rztenshi
Except the fact Isekai aspect of Re:Zero is so important, story can't be that way without it. Subaru acts that way because overshadow by his father and such. Not even need to mention all worldbuilding linked aswell. Re:Zero is literally only isekai uses isekai in every way.
@thereforiwashim
Just because MT has an invented language doesn't make it better in that aspect either. In Re:Zero, it's an important plot point how Japanese culture reached this world, but they didn't learn kanji, so they made their own. Subaru learned from the start how to write in Arc 2.
@SenpaiSchmeki
It's correct that Re:Zero was supposed to start at Arc 3, but Tappei decided to write Arcs 1 and 2 before it. Canonically, Rem is a filler character, and Tappei has no idea what to do with her.
Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece, is a very very close friend of Nobuhiro Watsuki (author of Kenshin), who was caught with child pornography and confirmed pedophile.
@SenpaiSchmeki
There is a chance for Season 3 Part 3 to achieve these ratings since it has many different entries, similar to Gintama. However, there are so many Re:Zero haters that they will rate it 1/10 even without watching it.
Imagine having your brain melted after consuming so much Mushoku Tensei content that you don't even realize the Subaru-Beatrice relationship is similar to that of siblings, which has been explained multiple times.
@4GETMEENOTT
@Ki_s__ama
Mushoku Tensei fans are in such delusion, they started with power system and worldbuilding when Re:Zero has better power system and worldbuilding. Now MT has better characterization, what you smoke really?

2- This group mostly watches power fantasy series like Solo Leveling or Classroom of the Elite and acts as if they are 200 IQ, edgy, handsome guys who manipulate all the girls and such. They don't want to watch series like Re:Zero, which is the opposite.
@garmadoncar
The creator of the Re:Zero subreddit isn't even a Re:Zero fan, lol, and the mods there are normies—either anime-only or people who don't know anything about Re:Zero.
@thereforiwashim
2- In the end, Mushoku continued the fantasy trope of different languages, which is good because most series don't even bother with it. However, Re:ZERO comes up with a completely unique way and makes the world even more interesting.
Subaru is Frodo of The Lord of the Rings. What I meant to say is that the main message of LOTR is about how, no matter how small and weak you are, you can accomplish things no one else can. This applies to both Subaru from "Re:Zero" and Frodo from "LOTR" as main characters.
I think Tappei is BIG Lord of Rings Fan like shotabaru we Got Hobbit Action and big Army Battlefield like in Lord of Rings Vollachia Arc Feel like Lord of Rings and I had say this Many Times 😎🔥🛡️🗡️⚔️⚔️💥🔥 But Waht You All think

@Kingtiger500
It's not hard to understand these people; they don't understand or know anything about Re:Zero. That's why they prefer Frieren, because it's 100 times more simplistic, uses old clichés everyone knows, takes no risks, and has high production value thanks to Madhouse.
@yo95220
@ColdCriti
There is every type of male and female in Re:Zero. Most characters have psychological problems anyway. Re:Zero females or males are far from perfect; each has their own unique flaws, which makes them realistic.
It's a success when you merge Isekai with Suicide Squad and get something watchable out of it instead of trash.
There isn't really anything Tappei can do with these concepts, but I have hope for future episodes.
So I watched all three episodes of Suicide Squad Isekai and overall its decent
Nothing too mind-blowing, but knowing Tappei-sensei is working on this, I know it'll be good.
Anyways it already solos that trashy ass game that released, but to be fair that's not too hard to do.
I'm really tired of people who says Frieren is good because it's not isekai. Which is hypocritical.
In Japan people refer to Frieren as Isekai because it includes many Isekai or similar anime clichés.
Here are the some cliches in Frieren that i remember.

How are they going to do Arc 6 when it's still in early production and Arc 5 isn't even completely finished yet? Arc 6 has more episodes, so there's no way it can come out before Q3 2025. I'm really worried about Arc 6's quality. Also what basically you said, confirm split cour.

2- collected panties, prayed on panties, molesting 12 year old, sexual assault 12 year old, groomed 12 year old, stalked and peeped 12 year old when she was taking a bath, made a deal to have sex with a child demon but failed, had sex with 15 year old, bought slave
This misinformation about Mushoku Tensei only occurred because fans try to overvalue and push their series, blatant lies. YouTubers create the same type of videos titled "FIRST ISEKAI" and spread this misinformation, which can be debunked with just two Google searches.
