There were only 4 people in the family who were afro Latine and the main character was not one of them. In fact the main three characters (Abuela, Mirabel, and Bruno) were all indigenous or mestizo which is cool but it's not Black/Afro representation.

I think Brown is for Asians and non white middle easterners, Latinos who call themselves brown are almost always trying to avoid important racial conversations and they're almost always Black OR White. Indigenous Latinos will usually say they're indigenous.
