this is why i love clockers (1995) because it fully expresses that level of empathy towards young black men being groomed into drug dealing in the projects. wish more people recognized this gem in spike lee’s filmography.
Movies set in the projects or in urban areas or with drug dealers are not the problem. The problem is writing those movies and characters with disregard… not showing them the same empathy you would for someone who created a weapon of mass destruction.
