Hot take (for some): Incarceration is not an effective deterrent, does not make communities safer, and serves, in many cases, only to displace crime. Reforming *people* is a better solution.

I know a guy who has taken it at *least* four times without success. I have watched him work his tail off and if that's not the definition of resilience, I don't know what is.
Thanks to

And if 260 passed in NC, would it have had a 75% pass rate? People are essentially playing on the same field but with different end zones. What variables am I overlooking,

We have it on DVD. Made our kids (who are biracial) watch it. They moaned the whole time but I guarantee you they understand how terrible slavery is now.

Imagine thinking you can apply to a top-tier law school and just waltz right in with your middle-of-the-mall LSAT score and be accepted just because youโre white. ๐คฃ
If this basketball season has shown me anything, it's that my

can do two things on the court (besides miss layups and turn the ball over):
1. Play with anyone in the country.
2. Lose to anyone in the country.

I'd like to see how one state's results would translate to another state. For example, how many people failed NC's bar exam with a 266/268 (270 to pass) but would've passed in, say, New Mexico (260). In other words, if passing in NM was 266, would it have 20% pass rate? 1/2

The sad part is, they could be gateways to success, if we did things differently. Instead of looking for technical violations, let's look at ways to help people.
Wife: You'll be more productive if you turn off the TV (in your home office). It's distracting.
Me: The volume is low & it's the news. All newsrooms have on the news. It's how they run.
Wife: That's not a newsroom.
Me: Behold the lies.

And the reasons vary. Many are trained only in how to compose an article rather than to actually learn about the topics they'll be covering. Also, many get in good with police agencies and believe they are an extension. That they are somehow friends.
I don't know if there's a god or not (neither do you), but it gets on my nerves when people die in a disaster/tragedy and survivors attribute their living to a god who apparently favored them over other humans. Like, where was god when the deceased needed a god?
The longer this case of "writer's block" goes on, the more I'm starting to think that I simply don't enjoy writing anymore. Maybe it's time for something new.
Emailed an attorney today and received this auto response, in part: "I will be out of the office for several days to spend time with my family."
You want to know what I say about that?
Bravo! ๐๐ผGood for you! Enjoy yourself and your family! My interview request can wait.
SC's new left-lane law in effect. Generally, don't ride left unless passing someone. There are exceptions.
For example, if a poultry truck has overturned in an outside lane, do not run over the chickens. You will not run afoul of the law by moving left. Afoul. A fowl.

I'm not sure that those who say that a defense attorney "got a murderer off" truly understand the definition of murderer. Not the Associated Press definition nor the legal one.
