Murals in Northern Ireland can often depict political divisions, but two artists from County Antrim are painting murals to raise awareness of mental health issues. The pair, who are from Ballymena, chose a wall in Ballykeel housing estate as their canvas🎨

. @AnnMarieCFoster is one of the warmest people you could ever hope to meet in a newsroom, she’s also one of the most supportive and talented colleagues I’ve had the pleasure to work alongside. Much love AMF 🥲

Alex Bunting lost a leg when a bomb exploded under his taxi. A doctor who was two cars behind was first on the scene to help get him to hospital. Alex did not meet him until 30 years later when he was referred by his GP for a specialist appointment.

Grateful to @flahertycom & @BPositiveadam for sharing their sons’ stories with me for this piece. Up until June 2022, Northern Ireland had been the only part of the UK without the Child Funeral Fund. Since then payments have been made to 106 families who live here.

Glass & crystal-cutting in Co Tyrone was once world-renowned & the craft in the area dates back to 1771. By the 1970s Tyrone Crystal was shipped across the world. The last factory closed in 2010, but more than a decade later there are attempts to revive the skill in the county.

I spoke to Deaglan and his family about what life has been like for them since his Tourette’s syndrome diagnosis. There are no official diagnosis figures for NI, but it is estimated that there are about 300,000 adults and children in the UK who live with the condition.
