If I could start my chess training over again as a beginner, I would read only these 11 books in this order (General to Game Collections). IMO, these books + some coaching help on openings and game analysis is all a person needs to get to 1600 USCF. #chesspunks

Goal accomplished! Mastered basic tactics: created 8,000 tactics cards (6,000 basic, 1,800 intermediate, 200 duplicates) and solved <10 seconds/card. Original estimate: 3 yrs. Actual: 2.5 yrs. Ongoing: solve 200 basic tactics/day = 6,000/month. Next goal: master basic endgames.👍
