The Arkansas Forestry Division hosted a week long prescribed Burning school. The students received extensive classroom and field training on how to use fire to help keep our state lands healthy. The NWS had a meteorologist at the class to help with the instruction. #arwx

Major Hurricane Helene made landfall along the Florida Gulf Coast (10 miles southwest of Perry, FL) at 1010 pm CDT. Maximum sustained winds were around 140 mph! As of midnight CDT, the system is in southern Georgia (near Valdosta, GA) and moving north about 25 mph. #arwx
