A strategy that I presented to my department today, which I have been focusing on to build Reading Fluency with KS3 is through the acronym - ACT Emphasis on reading in role/character allows pupils to read with greater prosody and accuracy.

With Language there’s always the “how do you even revise it?” question as pupils compare it to Literature revision. The answer is simple. Analyse a range of texts + develop your writing skills To support this I created a Language Paper 1 questions pack for my Yr11 class: (1/2)

I find teaching Duffy’s Valentine a great poem to engage pupils immediately. Erase any words in the poem which mention “onion” and allow pupils to guess what the ‘romantic’ present is!
