Life of a teacher: During math class I answered 2 phone calls,gave a student a bandaid,took a water gun away, found 3 Ss assignments that they couldn’t find in their folder, & asked a student to stop barking like a dog. All within the first 5 mins of class. I. AM. Exhausted 😮‍💨

We don’t talk enough about how one of the difficult parts of being a teacher is that some of us are by ourselves w/classes of 30+ Ss. So when 1 or multiple students are having a bad day, we have to choose between those few Ss or the other 20+ Ss ready to learn.

Class size matters!! Today in one of my classes, I only had 18 students. Even with the craziness of the rainy day, we were able to get through so much of the math lesson. I was able to help more students too. This should be the norm.

In my opinion, homework should be optional. This has worked well for me in my classroom for many years. If students, or their parents, want the extra practice it’s provided for each lesson. That has limited the stress for everyone, including me.
