The emotional distress educators experience is often overlooked. Too many educators give everything they have to their schools and students but not enough for themselves. If we're appreciating teachers for what they do, we also have to support their mental health.

One problem (of many) that occurs is that sometimes those expectations are influenced on whether or not child is Black or Brown. Which begs another question: Why are our students of color held to higher standards than some white adults?

Does anybody feel like there are so many programs and initiatives going on at their school that they end up being counterproductive to each other or cause a competition for resources?
Ready for a paradigm shift? Many students with behavioral disorders also have an expressive or receptive language disorder. Students who act out may not be trying to get in trouble. But, they may be trying to communicate a need.

The individuals who understand the "COVID generation" of students the most are not current researchers, policymakers, or administration. It's the educators who are teaching the COVID generation NOW. They are living through it every day.
