I’m over the moon! After a two day interview, I am going to be a headteacher from September 😀 I’ve been quiet on Twitter recently, but will be looking for all the help and support I can get as I take on this new challenge. If anyone has any great advice, please get in touch!

I am over the moon to announce that I got the job and will be returning to my first school as Deputy Headteacher in September! Leaving my current school won’t be easy but I can’t wait for this new challenge and to take the next step in my career 😀

Visited my new school today for the first time since being appointed. My deputy and a teacher have resigned, and two have interviews this week. There was also an incident involving a police cordon and an air ambulance… welcome to headship! 🙈

I’m devastated. Tonight my Grandad passed away whilst my mum, my aunty and I held his hand. He’s battled dementia for about five years now - a cruel, cruel disease! I can’t talk about how I feel right now but needed someway of letting it out 💔 RIP Grandad.

Just talking to a friend who got the call on Wednesday for Ofsted to come in on the last two days of term! They accepted the deferral request thankfully but surely they know going into a school for the last two days before Christmas is a ridiculous idea 🤷🏼‍♂️

Can’t wait to go into work tomorrow! Can’t explain how much it feels like a weight has been lifted getting Ofsted out of the way last week. It’s been hanging over us since I got the job this time last year, but now we can move on without fearing “the call” every day 😀

Day 5 as a headteacher: Advert placed for my deputy head ☑️ Spoke to some of our vulnerable children’s social workers ☑️ Met some more parents and received really nice feedback ☑️ Ended the week with a little kick around ☑️ A very busy, tiring, but ultimately successful week 😊

Imagine the panic when I received an email from the LA yesterday saying… “I have been informed that you have Ofsted inspection this week. If you need any support please call or email me.” Turns out it was the wrong school 😮‍💨 Still not over it!

What a first week back... Our KS1 & English lead announced that she is retiring at Christmas - the same time as the head and deputy! Then the final member of SLT, the KS2 & Maths lead is pregnant so will be off from Feb. Big changes coming up!😂

Just over a year since I got the job as head and I am delighted that we maintained our good status. I’m not a fan of the process which caused many stresses and sleepless nights. However, this is well-deserved recognition for the dedicated and hard working staff and kids! 💙

@MartinSLewis is there anything you can do to promote parents applying for free school meals? A lot don’t realise they’re eligible, and not only does it benefit the family, it massively benefits the school. They can even apply whilst in KS1 whilst eligible for universal FSM.

Can’t believe some of the abuse teachers are getting. The majority of teachers I know are still working and want schools to reopen, but only when it’s safe for the children and staff! This premature decision by the government has simply created divisions and uncertainty!
