History and Politics Graduate, Man U fan, humanities teacher. school governor lived in China for two years. Interested in History, Politics and the Labour Party
@andreajenkyns
Hiya Andrea, teachers are putting children first by striking. Part of what we're asking for is properly funded schools. This will mean more money for students and better lessons. At the moment, every time there is a pay rise, the money comes out of the classroom.
@MetPoliceEvents
@JustStop_Oil
No this was an illegal arrest just like the fact the met were arresting republican protestors. The man was clearly using reasonable force to prevent someone from committing a crime namely obstruction of a public highway , he used the force necessary to stop the criminality.
@MerylORourke
@Aiannucci
I’m a supply teacher , it’s the hardest job. Imagine going into schools to deal with attitudes such as these, and then have to deal with the parents who enable their child’s disrespect. Supply teachers are teachers and it’s time we were treated with a bit more respect than this!
@albieamankona
Makes you question everything we have been hinted at or told doesn’t it. It’s all been ohh harry is wicked , harry did this wrong. When in fact it’s the power of the royal court prepared to whip up the press against one man. No wonder harry wanted out
@FeryalClark
I dunno Feryal , you’re tweet has meant a vast amount more people have seen it now , far more than if they had emailed or you hadn’t tweeted
@PatMGlass
@DehennaDavison
@RicHolden
Pat, I'm a labour member and this looks terrible. We should be listening to people in the north east about why they voted tory, not dismissing it as a fad of suggesting dehenna should toddle back to the SE. She's from sheffield
@v_j_freeman
I think this is a reasonable response quite honestly, there was a picture of israeli kids in cages that went around a few days ago. It was quickly dismissed as a fake. In an age of real fakes and fake news people are right to be suspicious about what they hear and want to verify
@martha_306
Of the federal republic of Germany? The third reich and Weimar Republic is technically a different state. That German state ceased to exist with the allied occupation of Germany in 1945. This is why Merkle is only the 7th Chancellor of Germany
@StephenOld
@heidiallen75
@bill_howarth
Heidi to be fair to her left the conservatives over brexit , she did more than most to avert this catastrophe. Congratulations Heidi
@igorsushko
A more interesting question I think is whose side is Shoigu on. With rumours of Russia army retreating in Moscow , I don’t think we entirely know that answer
@Miss_Snuffy
With the greatest of respect Katharine, you criticise kids for their lack of resilience so when the Labour Party suggests they might actually teach some, shouldn’t you be praising it
@v_j_freeman
Where is the evidence this actually happened is not a denial that this massacre did happen, it's a request for more information about the massacre. Rather than thinking the worst of people that want to ask questions try engaging genuinely
@laurenhowellss
Lauren, I think could be construed as a fair comment, I've experienced bullying and abuse within the Labour Party I've seen it. I've also seen it sometimes get nearly physical. For those people who experience this who leave, I could see trauma they feel as being similar.
@danwootton
Dan , you have missed the point. He’s campaigning against an abusive press not a free one. Also given he’s suing newsgroup a company you worked for for many years there’s a huge conflict of interest for you here
@tricyclemayor
That tube tells a story, in fact it tells two things , a story and how strong you have been to overcome what ever it is you have had to overcome. I understand about your self esteem, but you should see it as a badge of pride of what you have achieved and what you are going on to
@lukeakehurst
@JewishChron
@JewishNewsUK
@BoardofDeputies
@JLC_uk
I’m suspicious of those two papers because they consistently lose libel cases and they published a vile piece denying islamophobia by Melanie Philips. I’m in no way an antisemite nor do I often criticise Jewish organisations. It’s entirely legitimate not to like their positions
@antisemitism
Right 1) antisemitism is vile. 2) I looked very hard for several minutes before i saw the Star of David, it’s clearly in different paint and I think there is a good chance it’s two different people3) free Palestine is not antisemitic and equating it with antisemitism is wrong
@RachelRileyRR
Your silence on Israeli atrocities on Palestinians in prison is deafening. To be a genuine actor for peace Rachel you must speak out on both.
@wesstreeting
@HMullisKunda
This is perfectly admirable. As a teacher, I know that this sort of praise will mean the world to that young person. They will remember this for many years. You’re a good man Wes, for speaking out in favour of the strike under such pressure and for your kindness too
@Pongo81575019
@MetPoliceEvents
@JustStop_Oil
Defence of assault is reasonable force for prevention of crime, the man used reasonable force on the protester to clear the Highway of his presence. No jury would convict him
@HuwLabourLeftie
@UKLabour
@lukeakehurst
Given these sweets being given out are probably because of iftar during Ramadan, this really could be considered islamophobic. I know Luke isn’t islamophobic so I’m sure he will remove these tweets!
@justinwatson23
@ColeyHarvey
No in fact it’s the worst news, that’s the kind of statement which tells me the next statement will be from the family or club
@zakjm7
No Labour has their fair share of blame here for not holding israel to account. They murdered starving people queuing for food yesterday. (This is verified by New York Times)
@danny__kruger
@Fox_Claire
@miriam_cates
Don’t disagree, any accusation made should be public. That way cates has the opportunity to defend herself publicly. I’d also consider using juries in these cases, MPs don’t have credibility to be fair. Pick 12 names from the public to decide on these cases.
@DanielJHannan
@duponline
Didn't the DUP support paramilitary groups like the UVF and the ulster protestant volunteers. you're doing deal with terrorist sympathisers
@JuliaHB1
He doesn’t like the media and it seems to me you have a vested interest in this because some might argue you are a part of the issue he’s rallying against
@lmharpin
Ohh here we go, Sam tarry does something that makes the right of the party look bad and immediately there is some sort of allegation about the man’s credibility and conduct. Well we know this ploy of theirs just read the forde report
@KatieCurtis
It’s not though Katie, from the river to the sea calls for a united Palestinian state where the Gaza Strip is linked to the West Bank. If you look at the map of Israel you can see the West Bank already borders the Jordan river and the strip already borders the ocean.
@lukeakehurst
No I’m sorry Luke, this is the Fabian society, you don’t get many far left members of that organisation. this is centre left and soft left of the party increasingly frustrated at a party that seemingly learnt nothing from New Labours loss and looks set to make the same mistakes
@gsjosan
I think scrapping the votes equalities officers have is a retrograde step , I understand you think this will remove factionalism but is it worth the disenfranchisement of vulnerable people. I’m nothing to do with momentum but I have grave reservations with what you are doing.
@blairmcdougall
On the other hand Emily maitless is sacked for being bolder, If more bbc journalists acted like herThe government would not feel they could get away with having a cosy chat with BBC management and removing unsympathetic journalists
@jdurran
@drlindalouise
As someone that had a statement, I can see both sides! I’m absolutely convinced that for the most part kids with ehcps can and should achieve just as much as neurotypical kids. That said the scaffolding often needs to be completely different with the steps often being smaller!
@Miss_Snuffy
the left hate the bbc for being too close to the tories, the right hate the bbc for being too left wing, maybe just maybe the bbc are getting it right?
@blairmcdougall
Blair, I really do see your point and as someone who historically has not attacked Kunesberg for this very reason I have faced a growing realisation that Laura Kuenssberg does not give the government is the scrutiny that journalists in her position should.
@ClaudiaWebbe
its well meaning but I loath this chant, no we're not all Palestinians. the people chanting this live in a safe country miles away from daily threat Palestinians face. We don't have any idea what it's like. Saying we are all Palestinians trivialize what they are going through
@sophielouisecc
Sophie, it’s white men. Not white people. Important to get facts right before you accuse the armed forces of bad practice. I agree with you it’s not great but if we are going to criticise it it’s important to be accurate
@lucianaberger
@UKLabour
For fulfilling the wish of the British people at a referendum? I realise your pain, but we have to implement it. We have not choice , we would be utterly destroyed in our heartlands if we did
@zakjm7
I mean thousands of Palestinians have died at the hands of Israeli weapons . Israel are currently on trial at The Hague. These weapons were sold by permission of the Prime Minister. What is the inaccuracy?
@zakjm7
@NewhamIndParty
@mmehmood73
@SophiaNaqvi1
@ZGulamussen
This is perfectly legitimate, she’s running to be the most powerful woman in the country. They are conducting a conversation, it may be a difficult one but don’t ever deliberately confuse making politicians defend their positions to harassment, Reeves could have walked away
@NadineDorries
As a teacher it makes me feel physically sick to my teeth. I rarely shout and scream as a teacher, it doesn’t work but If any of my students were caught doing this I’d really struggle
@lukeakehurst
If Russia did what Israel are doing you would be outraged. I was at Auschwitz on Wednesday and the guide said that both Isreal and Palestine need reminding about what happened at Auschwitz. Now if the guide at Auschwitz can say that I think you can afford to be more critical !
@AvivaKlompas
I forgot how using white phosphorus on children is legal and ethical when Israel did it. Tell me what part of the Geneva convention explicitly excludes Isreal from that
@oflynnsocial
BBC don't have big presence in Moscow because it's correspondent was kicked out about a year ago, rather than replace the BBC opted to keep them in solidarity. BBC Moscow correspondent has to do all their work from london
@gsjosan
Also anyone that wants to narrow democracy and make it easier for factions to push through decisions needs to held accountable. You were up in arms I seem to remember when the left had the majority and tried to do a similar thing. I see your objections end with your faction!
@TimtheRed54
@christopherhope
@LadyJLondon
Tim , Labour’s views on this are not unanimous, I condemn Hamas utterly yet I also condemn Israeli policy of depriving children of food, electricity of water. If you want peace you have to condemn both
@JuliaHB1
@CompliantTyrant
This however is not what the Palestinian children wanted. They did not vote Hamas. I hear this a lot from defenders of Israel, that Hamas knew what they were getting in for as if the entirity of Gaza are Hamas. Over 50% of Gazan people under 18, last elections was 19 years ago.
@KTHopkins
@stellacreasy
In fact refugees have a lower crime rate than British people. Immigration has brought a hell of a lot to this country. Don’t bother eating curry, or Chinese or pizza or pasta if you aren’t going to embrace the culture and welcome it
@DCBMEP
David, I live in China. This won’t scare Beijing one bit! It will just put its back up. China only responds to catchy feely diplomacy, a sweetheart trade agreement in exchange for the guarantee of rights in hk for instance. Threats of force will frankly be laughed at or dismissed
@paulasherriff
@KatieCurtis
Yet you both I imagine took time to read and think about it, pour scorn by all means but his mission is accomplished plus the fact we are all talking about it
@CCriadoPerez
She endorsed some particularly unpleasant abuse aimed at Lili Madigan. Absolutely all abuse should be condemned but she’s not innocent in this herself
@KatieCurtis
Don’t know about you but I’m not in the business of turning my nose up at potential labour votes. I think this attitude some labour people have is why we are having such problems. Rather than blame voters for having bad views, we should be asking why they are abandoning us!
@Strickomaster
Student today said loudly he had a shank in school, took immediate action informing slt, he hadn’t but students I think need to be told about attacks on teachers and crying wolf about carrying a knife will be treated seriously
@JustinWelby
@sanditoksvig
The magisterium of the church is a man made creation. People’s love is not. To throw people’s love , something Christians consider a gift from god aside to preserve the man made administration of the church from schism is amongst the most selfish act a cleric can do
@Mike_Fabricant
I doubt the police officer had a reasonable belief that this was likely to cause disruption. The parliamentary chamber is reasonably well insulated. This is an example of
@metpoliceuk
misusing their powers. Also Bray has garnered a lot of sympathy today from people pretty tired
@Kevin_Maguire
So you would lower yourself to that level? It’s still in bad taste and what’s more it cheapens the loss people who have followed the rules have endured. I’d urge you to delete tweet
