All of the Western coverage so far has missed this aspect of the video. Before he shoots the Russian soldier, someone tells him to leave him like that (leave him to die). The soldier shoots him and says โI didnโt want to leave him like that.โ
It appeared to be a mercy killing.

Awesome, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
Wish I could make out more of what they're saying, but I heard something about artillery and coordinating how different groups will attack together
This soldier spent 25 minutes (I kid you not) trying to ask about some information, but the other unit couldnโt hear him.
When they finally could make out what he was saying, they didnโt know what information he was referring to ๐ And now they canโt hear him again:
Russian on comms tells another Russian that he needs to talk to somebody in the Buryat language โ Buryats are Mongolians, suggesting Putin is sending conscripts even from Siberia
Russian comms update
Ekran 20 had been unsuccessfully calling another unit (Poshiv) for minutes on end. A Ukrainian gets on the frequency and pretends to be a Russian unit:

The problem w that is the rules of polite conversation with strangers in a neutral setting donโt apply to a forum specifically created for political debate. And these expectations of censorship are being applied in those spaces as well.
@mtavkhelidze
True, but that would involve conceding the Russian government and military are fallible.
Between Litvinenko, MH17, Skripal, Syria, Nemtsov, Magnitsky, weโve learned theyโll deny and justify it all to the end. Much like the Nazis condemned at Nuremberg..
@AP
I know this only just happened, but one canโt help but wonder if the foiled attack on John Bolton and this attack are connected. Both have quite a contentious history with the government of Iran.

In Chechnya, Russia promised a safe evacuation corridor then ambushed everyone, killing Chechen leadership.
This is what they do. And why not? They donโt seem to face many consequences for it.
David Patraeus was on CNN yesterday talking about Russian communications โ how their secure comms have failed and how theyโve had to resort to civilian tech prone to being jammed and intercepted. To that end, some evidence of how thatโs going from the past couple days:
Need confirmation of who is firing, but if Russian add it to the list of 1) kindergarten hit w a child killed 2) shelling of road being actively used by civilians, next to hospital 3) Russian soldiers using Ukrainian insignia while attacking Kyiv, war crime per Geneva Conventions
Ukrainians seem to have jammed it! (at least momentarily)
A voice cut in saying "Glory to the heroes," the phrase Ukrainians say to celebrate their soldiers
7933 being continuously spammed by the Ukrainian anthem, love to see it
another Russian frequency was broadcasting radiograms with codes, also now quiet
The Russian soldiers try to communicate again to confirm information about their failed advance, and are interrupted by a Ukrainian and then jammed:
"We'll fry you f*ckers!"
There are too many instances of these communication breakdowns to translate/post them all; most of their comms are this chaotic. More examples in this thread and the threads following it:
Absolutely hilarious exchange between two Russian signalmen, when one asks the same question for the tenth time:
โHas the BTR been moved into service?โ
โI donโt know, Iโm a fucking radiomanโ
โAnd what the fuck am I?โ

When I was a child, one of our (indoor) cats got very sick and passed away quickly. The best explanation the vet could give is that one of us brought the bacteria into the house via our shoes.
Since then Iโm a shoes off absolutist as long as I/people Iโm visiting have pets.
Most of their recent intercepted comms have been soldiers on the ground complaining about their comms systems, losing contact, and so on.
No wonder their generals are getting killed left and right; they have to move closer to the front to lead once comms break down like this.
Ekran 20 keeps trying to reach Poshiv but canโt. He asks Ural to try instead, and the Ukrainian responds again, fooling them.
Ekran asks, โWhoโs here with us? Are you Banderites or ours?โ as he gets confused:
In this intercepted communication, the Russians are using unencrypted radios but are trying to communicate in code. However, the soldier almost loses the code that was given to him, which wouldโve meant he had no way of contacting his unit once they changed frequencies:
Someone jamming the frequency (used earlier in the night by Russian troops) with two simple questions on a loop:
โWhy are you shooting at civilian areas? Why are you killing civilians?โ
losing contact with convoys carrying their dead/injured, not hearing each other due to jamming. Whatever logistical issue you can imagine in communications, theyโve experienced it. If Iโve personally been able to hear this, one can only imagine how widespread these issues are.
Iโve observed these issues throughout the war โ RU soldiers forgetting coded messages, transcribing them incorrectly and not being corrected, complaints of their secure comms not working, complaints of soldiers not setting up secure comms correctly, losing contact with units,
On a few frequencies the Russians go through the trouble of scrambling so we canโt understand them.
After some effort with descrambling the recordings, we can see they did all that work to hideโฆthem complaining that they canโt hear one another:
Continuing to follow Russian comms

the point is โ itโs not just about if youโre successful at doing something wrong, but that you tried to do something wrong in the first place. attempted murder is analogous to โattempted cheatingโ in this specific sense,it not going as planned isnโt a justification for the action

My mom had to go take an exam in Kyiv, and she did so without knowing about the fallout. Because the โcompetentโ people in charge didnโt tell anyone.
Same soldier still very, very frustrated, this time about the same BTR mentioned way back in the thread. They *still* havenโt figured out whatโs going on with it:
In this clip, the soldier is trying to get an โurgentโ message about injured/KIA to another unit, but that unit canโt understand him due to jamming and says they couldnโt understand a previous message on a different frequency as well.
They end up changing frequencies yet again:
One tries to relay coordinates to the other but the frequency is jammed
They're trying to pause and then to yell over it but the jamming starts up again as soon as they start talking ๐ Been 3 minutes of this now
More comms in what sounds like the Buryat language โ truly depressing that conscripts from one of the poorer areas of Russia, conscripts who don't even have a working grasp of Russian, are being sent to fight in Ukraine
Russians ordering artillery fire on civilian areas:
โDecision has been made to remove the first household in the inhabited area, and to cover the inhabited area with artillery fire.โ
โStunningโ
Ekran urgently asks units to search for Poshiv on other frequencies, specifically โthe third frequency from the list of 7.โ They finally discover him but canโt understand how he got there, leading to Ekranโs sarcastic comment:
