Humans weren't designed to cast spells, but that didn't stop them. The circular plate on the arm is the input. a device to allow mana into the body. it has to be learned like a second form of breathing. then magic can be used though an output. which are the metal tipped fingers.

Thimbles are the most common output used by mages. Thimbles have a little cup imbedded in the tip of them to put kindling into. Kindling is used up in the casting of spells.

Humans cant naturally take in mana. Inputs allow the body to take in mana. It is comprised of the input, amplifier and pin to hold it all together. The stacked cone design was inspired by the Snapping dragon which has been known to also harness mana from its surrounding.

the shape of the input and output drastically changes how spells are casted. rounder shaped outputs cast softer spells and sharp ones make the spells faster and more aggressive. The metal fingers have a hole in the tip to put kindling into, which is used as a conduit for spells.

Some examples of general outputs the shapes of which dictate how spells come out. All of these are obviously on the hand but there are also some that fit into the mouth for breath spells or staves and wands that help add to spell casting range and force.

The Ram soldiers, reliable and replaceable. Their uniform is mostly scavenged off of fallen soldiers and reused. They are equipped with magic scrolls and grenades to be able to compete with Verus mages.

Manamorphosis, I've taken the time to document the average changes of mages body proportions and features. My running theory is that Mana slowly changes the body to accommodate Mana in a larger amount. Though that still doesn't explain the ribcages lengthening.

First spell that we illustrated is Terraform, well Terraform if you accidentally stand it the way of it. in a word with magic some spell can unexpectedly be used offensively. though normally Terraform is used by Verus mages to build bunkers and form trenches.

The Manamorphosis of a Combustion War mage is painful, but it is inevitable. As a mage casts spells frequently, their body starts to change to reflect their magic. In the case of a combustion mage common symptoms a billowing smoke out of orifices and burnt flaking skin.

Workin on a concept for a kinetic mage standing with their rifle. I wanted them to sorta look shy like they are ashamed of their stature. either way this will be quite a notable figure within the trenches being one of the best kinetic mages.

I did a few more takes on what over healing might look like. magical healing should be done slowly as to not cause "strange" effects, though in situations where the healer has to defend themself it does come in handy.

in stream it was a background that had the character on it, but I think doing a background and having the characters separate like in visual novels will allow me to be a lot more flexible. adding more characters into the scene won't require drawing new backgrounds.

The Siphon prowls at night looking for its next catch for the mother. They siphon the tar out of peoples veins and the tar then goes through a long refinement process to be turned into a worthy meal for the mother.

reused old reference to try and practice on it and see if I've gotten better. the drawing in the middle took 10 min. I normally give myself 10 mins per practice drawing cuz I feel like I get a lot more (lets call it Xp) from the first 10 mins of a drawing.

I cleaned it up a bit before posting. But I just felt like sculpting the ram soldier. So I did. Got some play dough, and I think it went pretty well. If you wander what the brand is its the last image. Non toxic as well so I can casually snack on it while sculpting.

Verus Battle mage. An upside of risking mages by throwing them into war is that if it works they can be awfully effective. The average Verus battle mage is equipped with a staff for longer casting range, few mana potions and the standard Kindling of Gunpowder.
