As I sat in the Senate chamber for this vote, I overheard Senator Sinema talking to others about what they were wearing. Others were laughing in casual conversation. Meanwhile, Israel was using U.S. weaponry to bomb the last functioning hospital in Gaza. This is necropolitics.

This blackout began the same day as South Africa’s ICJ case on Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Like the blackout that followed the 2019 Khartoum Massacre in Sudan, this is an intentional effort by Israel to isolate Palestinians from the world and hide the full scale of destruction.
