They pushed the Su-57 until that didn’t work out great. Then they pushed the Su-75 that didn’t go nowhere. Now it’s the MiG-41 that won’t… you can fill in the rest. Getting real Wunderwaffe vibes here from Russia and their online trolls (+retweeters)

The idea that the Luftwaffe of WW2 was somehow not involved in the atrocities and politics of Nazi Germany is a popular one but also complete fiction. Although I don’t have the space to talk about everything, here is a short overview why (some distressing images):

I have a little fascination with this design. It's the Focke Wulf Fw 159 and most people don't know it. Designed by Obering. (Eng.) Blaser at Focke-Wulf, it was a direct competitor to the Bf 109 and He 112 when the German Air Ministry (1934) called for a new fighter aircraft. 1/5

We get romanticized stories about German aces: 'Hartmann shoot down 300+ aircraft, oh my, was he a a great pilot yadiyadida'... guess who built his plane? Guess who supplied his ammo? Without slave labour, no Hartmann, no fighter aces, no Luftwaffe. The Luftwaffe is NOT 'clean'!

First off, why is there a belief that the Luftwaffe was ‘clean’? Part of this stems from the ‘clean Wehrmacht’ myth, blaming SS, Gestapo and Nazi government for all bad things. This was a convenient post-war interpretation…
