We discovered a single target of the T cells, which is a conserved substrate-binding protein (SBP) from an ABC transport system in Firmicutes. The SBP is widely conserved across Firmicutes and is highly expressed, even in mouse microbiome strains and random human stool samples.

@AlmaTherapeutic @Nature SBP is an extracellular lipoprotein that is a component of ABC transporter and works as a receptor for sugar for energy uptake, though its function has not been validated experimentally. It's an interesting question if SBP mimics host protein, but we don't have an answer.

5, One T cell recognizes multiple bacterial strains: The result was intriguing – many strains are reactive to T cells than previously reported. This can only be explained in a scenario where one T cell recognizes multiple bacterial strains simultaneously.
