4 months after my late husband and I started dating, we learned I was +, he -.
I told him I would understand if he wanted to end the relationship.
His response was, “what kind of person leaves someone they love due to illness “?

I tested positive for HIV in '85. AZT was first approved in '87. That's when I started it. I am alive today, thanks in part to AZT. Sadly, not all were as lucky as me.
Dr. Fauci is a hero.
I'm not sure why

is trending but as someone living with AIDS since 1989, (HIV+ since 1985) I share my story with no shame.
More importantly, to give hope to anyone diagnosed with a life threatening illness.

I voted for her in 2008(primaries). I voted for her in 2016 (General not primaries).
I love and admire her.
That being said...
No, just no.
In 1985, age 22, I was diagnosed with

.
I was told I would "probably" die before turning 30.
This week, Wednesday, I will celebrate my 60th birthday. I will remember those not as fortunate.
I am a lucky man.
I've been living with HIV since 1985, 38 years.
Every time someone has tried to shame me for my honesty, I have made it a teachable moment.
HIV/AIDS shaming ends with me.

We should be laser-focused on supporting teachers and educating school kids, not banning books and suing educators.
But Raleigh Republicans are proving, once again, that they’re more interested in fighting culture wars than doing right by our children.
I love North Carolina. I grew up here. Anna and I started our family here. We’ve raised our three children here.
I'm going to fight for the future of our state with everything I have because this is personal for me—just like I know it is for you too.
Growing doubt about same-sex marriage bill getting 10 Republican votes in Senate, per sources. GOP whip Thune on prospects of getting 10 in immediate future: “I’m not seeing it”
I commented on someone post yesterday that I have been living with HIV since 1985. Thankfully, I received no negative comments and a few people decided to follow me.
As a long term survivor it is my responsibility to give hope to anyone with a life-threatening illness.

North Carolina is home.
Home to some of the finest educational institutions in the world.
Home to small businesses and Fortune 500 companies.
Home to basketball and BBQ.
But most importantly, it's home to you and your family. That's why I'll always fight to protect it.
I feel so blessed to have grown up here in North Carolina.
My dad, Adam, helped start North Carolina's first integrated law firm. He and his partners fought landmark civil rights cases, even when it was unpopular.
Because of him, I learned from a young age that this state is
I realized while watching evening news that my 60th birthday is 50 days from today (11/9). I was 22 when I was diagnosed. I was told I would likely not live to see my 30th birthday.
I'll never understand why I am so fortunate to have survived.
@jamie_smirk
My current partner and I have been together 15 years. He happens to be +.
Be kind to yourself. You will find the right person for you.
I wish you well.
BREAKING: Israeli minister says the government has decided to bar Democratic Reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota from entering the country. President Trump tweeted that "it would show great weakness" if Israel let them in."
NC teachers & students deserve our support and appreciation. I'm taking part in
@NC_Governor
's school supply drive to help NC teachers get supplies for their classrooms.
While this drive is great, we need the General Assembly to step up & start funding public schools.
NC's public schools teach our young people the skills they need to succeed whether starting college or a career. Our students are not political pawns - they are the future. On National Support Public Education Day, I remain committed to fighting for them and our public schools.
@warrior41523
Positive since 1985, I started meds in 1987 (AZT 2 every 4 hours including evenings). Since then, I have been on many "cocktails". I take my morning meds at the same time every day, and the same with evening meds.
You make it a priority and a habit.
Foods, a snack you like.
Women's reproductive rights are under attack—especially right here in North Carolina. As your next Governor, I'll defend women’s freedoms from right-wing, anti-choice efforts to enact a complete and total ban on abortion.
When
#LGBTQ
+ youth are supported by their parents, that support can literally save lives. Always show unconditional love and acceptance.
RT to show your support of

My dad asked me if I thought the nurse was transgender. I assured him he was.
My dad said nothing more.
My dad treated the nurse with upmost respect and kindness.
As a gay man, I have never been so proud of my father.

@PeteButtigieg
Positive since 1985, I never imagined I’d live to witness this history.
Tears of sadness for those taken to soon. Tears of joy for the entire LGBT community.
Pete! Pete! Pete!
North Carolina faces real problems that we need to address. As your next Governor, I'll work with all people of goodwill—Democrats AND Republicans—to support students, build safer communities, and create more economic opportunities for North Carolinians.

I was a freshman at UCF, 18 years old. I remember thinking this could never happen to me. Four years later, I tested positive for HIV. Somehow I survived.
I will never understand why.

I went to my 87 years-old GP appointment today. The intake nurse was a transgender male. He had a great transgender flag tattoo on his forearm and I complimented him on it.

I got my booster in August six months after my first two. I will not hesitate to take my second booster in February 2022. As a long term HIV survivor (diagnosed in 1985) I believe in science!

My nieces and nephews knew me and my late husband were gay from birth. We, our families, never hid the fact that they had two uncles who loved each other. They turned out as well adjusted adults.
@NBCNews
How does marriage between two consenting adults, regardless of sexuality, affect anyone else?
Why do Republicans try fixing things that aren’t broken?
@Matthew_Hodson
As you know, I have been living with HIV since 1985 (AIDS, 1989), not once have I allowed myself to be shamed. I always try to make it an educational experience.
North Carolina needs a fighter.
Somebody who will go to bat for working families, who will fight for quality education for our kids, and who won't stand for bigotry and hate.
That’s what I’ve done as Attorney General—and it’s exactly what I'll do as your next Governor.
