Ok. A few notes: Houston is designed to fill w water. Go where you need to be & hunker down. Stay put after you get there. 💦 It’s not flooding if the streets are full; it’s the designed runoff system doing its job. It’s flooding if your carpet gets wet. Or your drywall.

Wipe out the elected board. Jam the lower performing schools into a rote one-size method. Wipe out libraries & librarians. Punish teachers for staying home when they are sick. Go after the strengths. This is always the kicker—they go after what you do well, not your weakness.

Like any large/urban district, HISD has challenges, but they are also often superlative. Gifted, health professions, law enforcement, engineering…Nobody does it better. Ranked top schools in Texas & the nation. It’s hard not to see this as a focused effort to break HISD. 3/

The Galveston Co Judge is spending money sent to help w needs resulting from Covid to send resources to the border. He’s declaring the “border crisis” a public health emergency to allow it. I am absolutely positive there are needs in Gal Co going unaddressed because of this.

A vid I saw earlier pointed out that the Texas vote gap in 2020 was 600k. Think on that. It has felt like the dial hasn’t really moved since the ex ran for Senate in 2008, no matter the candidate nor the campaign. Texas will break your heart, no doubt, but this feels different.

If you vote anywhere in Harris County, you have 3 new elected positions on the HCAD board. EV is going on now, election is Sat May 4. If you are in Houston, unless you are in SD 15, it’s likely the only thing on the ballot. These are at large, you can & should vote for all 3.

@inspiredjen @audendum We spent a weekend in Fredericksburg, Tx years ago & walked around an old cemetery. It was filled w families of children who all died at the same time. One series of headstones was 9 kids who died in a row, starting w the baby. I was quite shocked; it was new to me. No longer.

So…then stay put. Pull in your trash cans, park your car up, if you can, let the streets do their thing & convey the water to the bayous & away. Folks get into trouble in the dark when they can’t see the depth if the water. The deep underpasses are particularly treacherous.
