This week in

we are running an investigation: Glasgow School of Art fires. 10 yrs on from the first blaze, what is happening to the now ruined Charles Rennie Mackintosh building? A thread of some images I've taken of this beautiful building-

Very sad to learn that the artist and writer Alasdair Gray has died. A terrible loss. I had the honour and pleasure of taking his photograph many times. Here is a pic taken at Oran Mor, Glasgow in Oct 2009 as he was adding to his stunning mural.
The three windows were removed for conservation work and restored to their former glory. In July 2013 the GSA began a £350,000 conservation programme of the three storey windows on the Scott Street facade of the Mackintosh Building.

The wonderful Hill House in Helensburgh. Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in collaboration with Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh. Built in the early 1900s, it is now encased in an innovative mesh box to aid its preservation.

ran The Journal newsdesk. It's a period piece. Please note historic artefacts such as calendars, an A-Z, packs of library cuttings and massive computers. And of course the mess (which, in my case, still exists).
