This is why better data privacy legislation—which the US needs—is not the solution to TikTok. Beijing can, potentially, do *anything it wants * with TikTok. It’s a different category of problem than Facebook or Twitter, requiring a different category of solution: divestment.

Seeing a lot of mockery or surprise about this. But it's a dead serious example of the only criteria that really matters to Beijing, whether a country's leaders openly oppose China's "interests" (as defined by the CCP).
