The Platonic philosophical conception of the Deity, has always come closest to ours. It's amazing how much was grasped via pure philosophy. Here is Plotinus' model. That such history lies buried today is a travesty. St. Clement was right, philosophy was Providential.

The Laws by Plato is one of the greatest masterworks of philosophy. It's Plato's last and longest work. I'm curious if anyone out there has even heard of it? It seems to have been thoroughly excised from Western consciousness. I suspect this is not by accident.

For Plato, the hierarchy of the human body perfectly expressed the hierarchy of our nature. The intellect, seated above all as an embodied sphere, governs the actions, emotions, passions, and appetites of the self-moving soul, as seen in the body's explanatory hierarchy.

Never go full Aristotle. Like many ill effects of the 13th Century, Aristotle's views on slavery were largely imbibed by Aquinas who very much provided the theological justification Pius IX references. Aquinas taught that slavery was in accord with Natural and Divine Law.

Plato rightly understood that the individuality of the soul could never be predicted on matter. The matter of the body changes throughout life yet the person remains. So too knowledge and tastes. We know now that the cells in our body completely regenerate about every 7-15 years.

Plato was the first to envisage the idea of timeless existence and to emphasize it...as a reality more real than our actual experience. - Erwin Schrรถdinger.

"Nothing exists without music, for the universe itself is said to have been framed by a kind of harmony of sounds, and the heaven itself revolves under the tones of that harmony." - St. Isidore of Seville

The Greek word "image/icon" in the Bible really conveys the Platonic idea of a "prototype" more than a modern idea of a "reproduction" or photograph. This is carried over into Byzantine iconography where the essence of the subject is being conveyed as it is in eternity.

Thomism is for the French. ๐Ÿ˜Ž My medieval English ancestors wanted nothing to do with it. The Archbishop of Canterbury even excommunicated them. One Dominican had appealed to Rome to overturn it. Not only did Pope Nicholas IV not overturn it, he silenced the Dominican in 1288.

Plato and Aristotle are not having a friendly conversation, two camps are opposing each other. Plato dressed humbly, Aristotle dressed as a wealthy aristocrat. Aristotle-ocrat? Same root. The vanishing point is Plato's left hand: Timaeus. Plato wears red: spiritual awakening.
