Why are IEP meetings returning to be in-person? If anything, the parent should be given the choice of having it online or in-person. Equity and access to all families needs to be at the foremost priority regarding this.

Here are a few things: 1) higher pay 2) more planning time - an asynchronous day may be in order once a week. 3) no extra duties 4) districts and universities partner to pay for new teacher education and PD. 5) admin support 6) no expectation it's a 24/7 job.

New teachers should have a team of mentors starting at the beginning of teacher preparation programs all the way until at least their fifth year teaching. As teachers grow & are hired, 1 or 2 team members can be added to the mix. Wouldn't this be a step to help with retention?

A game-changer in teacher workflow is to stop grading everything, provide whole-class feedback and share trends and examples, focus on student actions related to the feedback provided, and don't sweat providing everyone with individualized feedback all of the time.

Additionally, I feel like we have to improve the standing of education as a culture & treat teachers as professionals. Last, I do believe the expectations of the modern world don't fit well in our current education models. It wasn't built to be a 24/7 job during the school year.

@katiemartinedu @WeAreTeachers Simaltaneous instruction is the HyFlex model, which is not hybrid. We should be only using the HyFlex very strategtically as it will lead to burn out because it's simply not sustainable for long periods of time.

Two students came today who have not been in class all year. I am not sure what to do when they are 9 months behind and did not want to participate. I feel pretty defeated by it. Not sure what to do. Although, I'm proud of my students who have been there all year to buy in!

We should complete personal finance and the basics of financial literacy before moving into Algebra courses in high school. Then, embed more sophisticated financial literacy into Algebra and higher math courses as students progress further in their education.

@plugusin This is what I did this week for my PD. I demonstrated synchronous and asychronous pieces of the lesson. After being teachers being students, they had opportunities to personalize their learning and share all of their lessons with their colleagues in the district.

The French school system utilizes this. There's built-in planning time, PD, and flex time for teachers to do whatever they would like.
