De Zerbi is one of the most clear and fine example of a position play-oriented manager. He wants his team to maintain possession of the ball, playing it from the back, counterpressing when it's lost and attacking the box with many players occupying the five offensive channels.

I'll mainly analyze his Sassuolo from the 2020/21 season, which I consider the highest expression of his football. In that season Sassuolo finished 8th, tied on points with Roma who qualified for the Conference League which they then won. Sassuolo scored 64 goals and conceded 56

Prima dell'inizio della stagione ho espresso delle perplessità sulla possibile coesistenza di Gosens e Dumfries nell'Inter di Inzaghi, in quanto esterni molto impattanti nell'ultimo terzo sul lato debole ma non di grande utilità in costruzione. Come risolvere questo problema?

Non è un caso se tutti i centravanti della Francia abbiano fatto male. È la normale conseguenza di un approccio così rinunciatario che isola totalmente gli attaccanti estraniandoli dal gioco. Allo stesso modo, non è un caso che facesse bene un giocatore come Giroud... 1/2
