Only small groups of people remain from the protest in the Old Town area. Traffic has returned to normal. The protest remained peaceful throughout its entirety.
**Caught in the Act**
Last night units were dispatched to the intersection of Sudley Rd and Grant Ave. When Officers Piccioli and Stanikzai arrived, they located an elderly citizen with a flat tire. The officers changed the tire for the citizen.
Today, our officers participated in the motorcade to honor fallen Town of Stanley Police Department Officer, Dominic “Nick” Winum who passed away due to injuries he sustained in the line of duty. Our thoughts and prayers are with officer Winum’s family and the Town of Stanley PD.
**Fugitive of the Week**
Jose Victor VANEGAS ESCOBAR is wanted for the charge of rape. The incident occurred on April 5 and the victim was a female juvenile family member. He may be in the Manassas area. If you have information about his whereabouts contact MCPD @ 703-257-8000.

There is a heavy Police presence in the area of Liberia Avenue and BayberryAvenue and surrounding areas due to an active critical incident. Please avoid the area. An update will be provided once available.
**Final Update**
The unlawful assembly in the area of Liberia Avenue has dispersed. Units will remain in the area as a precaution and assess any damage.
Chief Keen speaking yesterday evening on the death of George Floyd "I'm as angry as you are. I have over 30 years doing this, I don't want to see it. I don't want to stand for it. We don't put up with it in our own department and we don't put up with it from other departments."
**Caught in the Act**
Officer Flores was patrolling the neighborhoods and stopped to help a resident change their tire this morning. While doing so a lady came up to ask for directions, which Officer Flores provided. Our officers are compassionate human beings that enjoy helping.
The Manassas City Police Department regrets to announce the death of retired K9 Officer Rex, a seven year veteran of the Manassas City Police K9 Unit. Rex passed away peacefully Friday of an illness at the age of nine.
**Update**
An unlawful assembly has been called for the group of protesters that are in the area of Liberia Avenue. Please avoid the area while officers work to safely disperse the crowd.
While patrolling officers located 7 children and their mother celebrating the arrival of fresh snow. The kids were provided with a police officer "baseball card" contact information and requested a picture with the police car.

After 43 years of serving and protecting the residents of Manassas City, Master Police Officer Cindy van Noppen has decided to hang up her badge and retire. She will truly be missed. We wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors. Thank You for your Service!

The owner of the 7-Eleven at 8901 Godwin Drive is Manassas dropped of a ton of pizzas and water for our officers. He did it just because. Thank you!
**Caught in the Act**
MCPD was called to a residents home for this unwanted guest inside. Officer Storti used his snake charming skills to safely remove the unwanted guest unharmed. I can tell you these skills are not something typically taught at the police academy.
Due to a concerned citizen's anonymous report to our non-emergency number, MCPD was able to arrest the accused and conduct a search of their property which yielded several firearms, 2 un-serialized suppressors, knives, narcotics, and over $12,000 in counterfeit U.S. Currency.

Today, our officers assisted with the GeorgeTown South Community Center Food Drive. Thank you, to the GeorgeTown South Community for allowing us to assist.
Thank you to the thoughtful citizen who dropped off water to one of our officers today. The citizen even provided a bag of ice to keep the water cool on this hot day! The officer was conducting traffic enforcement and was very appreciative!

Officers are continuing to work to clear Liberia Avenue and the surrounding area. Continue to avoid the area and expect heavy police presence.
Our thoughts are with the Prince William County Police Department as they remember Officer Guindon's ultimate sacrifice 3 years ago today. We will never forget.
We remember Officer Ashley Guindon. End of Watch: February 27, 2016. She responded to a domestic altercation & upon arrival the suspect wounded her with his firearm. She was taken to an area hospital but died as a result of her injuries.

Officers are on scene for a possible school bomb threat at Osbourn High School. Expect high police presence in the area while we investigate. We will provide an update as it becomes available.
**Update to Barricade** 2/23/24 at 8:04PM We can confirm that we have a barricaded incident at a single family home in the 9200 block of Bayberry Avenue. Residents should avoid the area and stay in their homes unless police direct them otherwise. We will provide an update
Yesterday a member of our Historic Downtown Unit recovered a handgun, marijuana, suspected opioid pills, and a large amount of cash. The accused was charged with multiple offenses including distribution and weapons violations.

The barricaded subject surrendered himself to police. This is an isolated incident. There is still a heavy police presence in the area due to an ongoing investigation. The public is safe to resume regular activity.

Yesterday, animal-loving Officer Storti was called out for a domestic pigeon that a hawk may have attacked. Officer Storti safely captured the pigeon and returned it to the owner for care.
MCPD completed it's first ever COPS after school camp with Baldwin Intermediate School. The program is a community outreach initiative between the MCPD School Resource Officer Program and Manassas City Public Schools.

**UPDATE**
A bomb dog completed sweep of McDonald's and area deemed safe. No explosive devices were located. Officers are clearing scene and roadways re-opening. Source of threat remains active investigation.
