The current update has issues. Assert failed messages keep popping up & my elevator has vanished in both my games. Sim Guru Pedro has said they are aware & a fix should be available in a few hours. If you haven't updated yet it's better to wait for the fix to be available.

Results from this poll show it's likely that 25% of players can't play since the update of the 15th. A quarter of players worldwide unable to play or spend is why TSM profits have dropped. It's 23 days we've been unable to play. Please make fixing this a high priority. @EA
